Fittingly, it was The Milenium Force who had the last word. Sent off as the race favourite and guided with assurance by the ever-reliable A. Sandesh, the gelding didn’t just win—he commanded the finish. Trained by P. S. Chouhan, The Milenium Force lived up to expectations, surging ahead with conviction to clock a sharp 1:22.575 at odds of 1. It was a performance marked by both flair and focus, sealing the season’s final triumph with authority.

In a spirited pursuit came Medusa, a promising filly ridden by Bharat Singh and trained by Faisal A. Abbas. Running with purpose and showing notable maturity, she crossed the line in 1:23.602 at 4.80 odds—an effort that highlighted her rising stature in the ranks and left plenty to look forward to in the seasons ahead.

Completing the frame was You, partnered by Aditya Waydande and trained by veteran Imtiaz A. Sait. Though unable to match the winner’s turn of foot, You delivered a game effort, clocking 1:23.710 at 12 odds and ensuring the final race was fought all the way to the wire.

Scheduled under the floodlights at 7:30 PM, this 1400-meter showpiece carried jaw-dropping total stakes of ₹60,00,000, with an eye-watering ₹30,00,000 earmarked for the winner. It stood tall as the richest contest of the day and drew a top-class line-up of the season’s most exciting young contenders, all vying for glory on Mahalaxmi’s final night.

Stealing the spotlight with a commanding performance was the brilliant filly Social Butterfly, who soared to a stylish victory. Guided with poise by jockey David Allan and prepared to perfection by master trainer Dallas Todywalla, Social Butterfly looked every inch a star in the making as she powered home in 1:23.454. Sent off at even-money odds of 2, she justified her favourite status with a run that exuded class and composure.

Social Butterfly was raced in the colours of an influential ownership syndicate comprising Mr. Mukul Sonawala, Mr. Nozer Panthaky, Mr. D. R. Thacker (representing DT Racing Breeders LLP), Mr. Kairus Dadachanji, Mr. P. J. Vazifdar, Mr. M. Rishad, Mr. Munchi P. Shroff, and Mr. K. H. Vachha—a powerful group that now celebrates a season-defining triumph.

Giving valiant chase was All For Love, a gutsy filly trained by M. Narredu and ridden by Yash Narredu. Racing in the silks of another elite group of owners—Mrs. B. E. Saldanha, Mr. Atul N. Amersey, Mrs. Rashmee A. Amersey (for So Blest Trading Co. Pvt Ltd), Mr. Anil Saraf, Mr. Jehangir Mehta, Mr. Achuthan Siddharth, Mr. Balam Mohla, and Mr. Vivek S. Jain—she ran her heart out to clock 1:24.287 at 7 odds, finishing a commendable second.

Completing the trifecta was Tyrannus, a colt who launched a late charge under the guidance of seasoned jockey Neeraj Rawal. Trained by Imtiaz A. Sait and owned by Mr. C. Aryama Sundaram, Tyrannus showed promise with a strong third-place finish in 1:24.422, returning at odds of 14.

The fifth race on April 6th, 2025; at the Royal Western India Turf Club featured the highly anticipated Ahead Of My Time Million, a brisk 1200-meter sprint offering total stakes of ₹15,00,000, with a handsome ₹7,05,000 earmarked for the winner. In a field packed with speed, it was Quicker who lived up to his moniker, showcasing a decisive turn of foot to seize victory in emphatic fashion.

Trained by the seasoned M. Narredu and confidently ridden by Bharat Singh, Quicker timed his run to perfection, launching a powerful surge in the final furlong to stop the clock at 1:10.979. Backed at odds of 3.10, the colt justified the support and claimed the winner’s share in style.

Giving him a spirited chase was Goddess of Dawn, trained by Aman Altaf Hussain and ridden by Mustakim Alam. The horse delivered a gritty performance, staying in contention throughout and finishing a close second in 1:11.126 at odds of 15, cementing her status as a consistent sprinter.

Rounding out the top three was The Athabasca, guided by jockey N. B. Kuldeep and trained by P. S. Chouhan. Though unable to match the front two, he delivered a respectable effort, finishing in 1:11.486 at odds of 25 to secure third place.

As twilight descended over Mahalaxmi on April 6th, the stage was set for the feature stamina test of the day—the C. N. Wadia Gold Cup at the Royal Western India Turf Club. Scheduled for 6:15 PM and spanning a testing 2400 meters, the race offered a total purse of ₹50,00,000, with ₹30,00,000 reserved for the winner. A field of elite stayers lined up, each aiming to claim one of the most coveted distance titles of the season.

Delivering a performance of poise and power was the highly regarded DYF, who rose to the challenge under a measured ride by P. Trevor. Trained by Adhirajsingh Jodha, the favourite lived up to his billing, cruising past the post in 2:29.563 at odds of 1.90. With impeccable timing and stamina, DYF asserted his class, much to the delight of punters and connections alike.

PYRITE, partnered by A. Sandesh and trained by S. Waheed, ran a valiant race in defeat. Keeping the pressure on right through the home stretch, he finished a whisker behind the winner in 2:29.637 at odds of 7, giving the crowd a thrilling finish to cheer.

Completing the trifecta was DUKE OF TUSCANY, who had earlier impressed in the Bombay Club Multi-Million. Ridden by Vivek G. and trained by P. Shroff, the gelding ran another game race to clock 2:29.663 at odds of 5.50, showcasing consistency over distance.

 

The Royal Western India Turf Club kicked off the final day of its 2024-25 Mumbai Meeting on April 6th with the running of the Rapier Million, a 1200-meter dash that carried total stakes of ₹15,00,000, including a winning share of ₹7,05,000.

Rising to the occasion was the progressive SUSSING, trained by H. J. Antia and ridden with assurance by Antony Raj S. The gelding displayed sharp gate speed and sustained his effort through the final furlong, stopping the clock at 1:11.683 to clinch the top spot. Sent off at odds of 7.50, Sussing’s win underscored his continued improvement and delivered a strong start for the connections.

Finishing a game second was RED MERLOT, trained by Narendra Lagad and ridden by A. Prakash. The gelding kept on gamely in pursuit but couldn’t quite bridge the gap, crossing the line in 1:12.082 at odds of 8, earning valuable place money for his team.

LIGHTNING BLAZE, also hailing from the Narendra Lagad yard, took third place under S. Siddharth, giving the veteran trainer a notable dual finish in the opener. Clocking 1:12.145 and returning at odds of 15, Lightning Blaze stayed on well in the closing stages to edge out the rest of the field.

With the Rapier Million wrapped up and the tone set for the day, all eyes now shift to the upcoming Bombay Club Multi-Million, a 1600-meter contest poised to bring even more drama and excitement to the season finale at RWITC, Mumbai.

A palpable sense of anticipation hung over the Mahalaxmi Racecourse on April 5th, 2025; as the gates sprung open for the marquee sprint event of the day—the Zavaray S. Poonawalla Sprinters’ Challenge. Run over a blistering 1200 meters, the sixth race on the card delivered everything it promised: speed, skill, and a nail-biting finish. The stakes were sky-high, with a lavish purse on offer—₹21,00,000 reserved for the winner, ₹7,70,000 for the runner-up, and ₹4,20,000 for the third-placed horse. With the sun dipping low and the crowd swelling along the rails, the scene was set for a heart-stopping contest.

The honours fittingly went to the firm favourite, TIME AND TIDE, who justified strong public confidence with a masterclass in speed and composure. Piloted flawlessly by jockey A Sandesh, the gelding, trained by the accomplished Adhirajsingh Jodha and owned by Mr Vikram Bachhawat (representing Bachhawat Farms Pvt Ltd), surged to the front and held on resolutely to clinch victory in a dazzling time of 1:08.781. Sent off at even-money odds, the performance was as dominant as it was elegant—an emphatic statement of sprinting superiority.

Hot in pursuit and never letting the winner get too far ahead was the game CONSTABLE, guided by Vivek G and conditioned by the elite yard of P Shroff. Racing in the silks of a formidable ownership group—Mr and Mrs Vijay B. Shirke, Mr Jay V. Shirke, Mr K N Dhunjibhoy, Mr Z K Dhunjibhoy, Ms Anosha Meyers (on behalf of Five Stars Shipping Co Pvt Ltd), and Mr Berjis Minoo Desai—CONSTABLE ran a blinder to clock 1:08.853, just missing out in a finish that drew gasps from the stands. Starting at 12-to-1, his bold run added an extra layer of drama to an already exhilarating contest.

Completing the trifecta was the consistent MAGILETO, piloted by the ever-reliable P Trevor and trained by Aman Altaf Hussain. Racing for an enthusiastic ownership group—Mr Solomon F. Sopher, Miss Jessy D’Cunha, Miss Veera D’Souza, Mr Ashok Ranpise, and Mr Anil Saraf—MAGILETO ran a solid race from start to finish. Clocking 1:09.129 at starting odds of 10, the gelding once again proved his mettle in elite company, reinforcing his reputation as a dependable sprinter.

The Zavaray S. Poonawalla Sprinters’ Challenge lived up to its top billing, offering a thrilling spectacle that showcased some of the finest short-distance specialists in the country. It was a race marked by its intensity, depth of talent, and a finish that will be replayed and remembered long after the dust has settled.

The fifth race of the day on April 5th, 2025, the Aakriti Art Gallery Million, offered a handsome purse of ₹15,00,000, with ₹7,05,000 set aside for the winner. Contested over 1400 meters, the race delivered both quality and drama, drawing a sharp and evenly matched line-up that kept racegoers on the edge of their seats.

The race was dominated by JADE, trained by the red-hot P. Shroff and given a confident ride by jockey N. Bhosale. Sent off at odds of 2.50, the filly struck the front with authority and maintained her advantage in the final stages to post a winning time of 1:21.841. Her composed and commanding run marked another standout win for the Shroff camp.

Hot on her tail was stablemate CELESTIAL, also trained by P. Shroff and ridden by Vivek G. The gelding ran on strongly to finish second in 1:22.313, giving the yard a well-earned one-two result that underscored their dominant form on the day.

Rounding out the top three was the well-supported BASHIR, the tote favourite trained by Karthik Ganapathy and ridden by A. Sandesh. Despite a game effort, he could only manage third, stopping the clock at 1:22.361, narrowly behind CELESTIAL.

With the Aakriti Art Gallery Million wrapped up in style, the excitement only continues to build as attention shifts to the day’s showpiece event—the Zavaray S. Poonawalla Sprinters’ Challenge.

The feature event of the first day of Indian Racing Carnival at RWITC’s Mahalaxmi Racecourse on April 5th, the Zavaray S. Poonawalla Juvenile Multi Million more than lived up to its billing, delivering a pulsating finish that had racegoers on the edge of their seats. Contested over 1200 meters, this prestigious juvenile sprint carried a hefty total purse of ₹30,00,000, with the winner standing to gain a princely ₹18,00,000. As expected, a high-quality line-up of promising young thoroughbreds faced the starter, each looking to make a mark in one of the season’s standout events.

Emerging as the star of the show was the lightly raced yet supremely talented BISHOP, who produced a polished and professional performance to clinch victory. Piloted with precision by jockey A Prakash and expertly prepared by trainer P Shroff, BISHOP stopped the clock at 1:10.432, asserting his superiority in the final strides despite being sent off at a relatively generous price of 8-to-1. The colt’s finishing burst was both swift and stylish, signaling bright prospects ahead.

Finishing a close second was the well-fancied VEGATHA, ridden by the in-form Antony Raj S and trained by P S Chouhan. Showing grit and acceleration, VEGATHA stayed right in contention until the wire, eventually going down narrowly in a tight finish. The runner-up’s time of 1:10.466 and starting odds of 2.60 underlined just how competitive this race was.

Rounding off the top three was MERLET, the tote favourite, carrying both public expectations and the skilled handling of Suraj Narredu, under the watchful eye of trainer S Waheed. Although unable to summon a late charge strong enough to topple the front-runners, MERLET posted a respectable time of 1:10.830, finishing third with odds of 4.25.

The finish was a testament to the high quality of this juvenile group, with fractions separating the top contenders in a race that delivered both excitement and promise for the future. Sent off at odds of 5, the colt displayed class and composure, accelerating smoothly in the final furlong to clinch the race in a sharp time of 1:37.080. The victory reaffirmed both horse and connections’ rising profile on the turf.

Hot on CHAGALL’s heels was the well-fancied PERFECT LEGEND, the tote favourite, ridden by ace jockey Suraj Narredu and saddled by Warren Singh. Although strongly supported in the ring (odds of 2), the filly fell agonizingly short at the wire, stopping the clock at 1:37.178, a mere neck behind.

The third spot went to the tenacious KIMIKO, trained by Karthik Ganapathy and ridden by Bharat Singh. Despite going off at longshot odds of 18, KIMIKO produced a late surge that nearly turned the tables on the leading pair. Her final time of 1:37.192 was just a whisker behind, underscoring the razor-thin margins in a truly pulsating finish.

With just 0.112 seconds separating the top three finishers, the Mystical Million lived up to every bit of its anticipation, setting a high bar for the rest of the afternoon’s action.

The action at the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) got underway with the Arktouros Million, a 1600-meter contest that drew the curtain-raiser spot at 4:45 PM on Saturday, April 5. With a lucrative prize purse of ₹15,00,000 up for grabs, the mile-long race attracted a competitive field, eager to stake their claim for a share of the pot. The winner was set to earn ₹7,05,000, while the runner-up would take home ₹3,75,000, making for a closely-watched opening affair.

The race belonged to NORTHBOUND, a promising contender who justified market support to deliver a smart performance under the guidance of jockey R Ajinkya. Trained by P S Chouhan, NORTHBOUND showed poise and a well-timed run in the straight, hitting the front when it mattered most and holding off late challengers to stop the clock at 1:39.660. Sent off at odds of 2.75, the winner looked composed throughout and displayed a decisive turn of foot when asked to quicken.

YULETIDE, under the riding of Mustakim Alam and trained by seasoned professional Narendra Lagad, ran a spirited race to finish second. Although unable to match the winner’s final dash, YULETIDE showed heart and determination, clocking 1:40.115 while going off at 6-to-1.

Finishing third was CRYSTAL CLEAR, a consistent sort saddled by Imtiaz A Sait and ridden by Neeraj Rawal. The filly remained in touch with the leaders throughout and stayed on steadily to complete the frame in 1:40.251, with starting odds of 5.

The well-fancied CONTINENTAL DRIFT was expected to make a strong impression as the tote favourite, but failed to fire on the day. Despite being well-positioned early, the gelding could not mount a meaningful challenge when the race reached its business end, leaving backers disappointed.

Conditions remained favorable throughout the race. The skies were clear, and the track rode well, with a penetrometer reading of 4.0 as per the Longchamp method, indicating a good racing surface.

The Arktouros Million offered a solid start to what promised to be a thrilling evening of racing, with the right mix of form horses and competitive odds setting the tone at Mahalaxmi.
