Great Yarmouth Racecourse hosted an entertaining six-race evening programme on 15 July, featuring a blend of apprentice contests, maiden events and handicaps. Horses of varying experience competed across distances ranging from a sharp five furlongs to over a mile and three furlongs, producing several notable performances.
The meeting highlighted emerging talent among both horses and riders, with convincing victories throughout the card. From promising maiden winners to experienced handicappers returning to form, the evening showcased the depth of competition on the East Anglian circuit.
The feature contest of the evening was the 4-Head Handicap Stakes (Class 4) over 7 furlongs and 3 yards, the highest-class race on the programme. The event brought together a competitive field of established handicappers seeking valuable success at Great Yarmouth.
Tryst (IRE) produced an impressive display to land the feature race under Jack Callan. Travelling comfortably throughout before showing a decisive turn of foot in the closing stages, Tryst (IRE) justified the quality of the contest with a polished performance. The victory marked another important success for the horse and connections in a competitive Class 4 event, confirming strong current form and highlighting the horse’s ability over seven furlongs.
The evening began with the IGLU Apprentice Handicap Stakes (Class 5) over 5 furlongs and 42 yards, where Adalida made the most of the fast trip under Ethan Tindall. Showing excellent early speed, Adalida maintained the advantage throughout the closing stages to record a well-deserved victory and give the apprentice rider an encouraging success.
Race two featured the Aeropak Restricted Maiden Stakes (Class 5) over 7 furlongs and 3 yards. Splash, partnered by David Egan, delivered a professional display to secure a breakthrough maiden victory. Racing with confidence from the outset, Splash finished strongly to open the winning account and provide connections with an encouraging result.
The third contest, the OTEX EBF Maiden Stakes (Class 4) over 5 furlongs and 42 yards, saw Anchiano (IRE) emerge as an exciting winner under Darragh Keenan. The youngster showed plenty of natural pace and determination, producing a smart performance that suggested there could be more success to come in higher company.
Following the feature race, attention shifted to the Doublebase Classified Stakes (Class 6) over 1 mile, 3 furlongs and 104 yards. Highland Harvey (IRE), ridden by Ray Dawson, stayed on strongly over the extended distance to claim victory. The performance demonstrated stamina and consistency, rewarding connections with a deserved success.
The meeting concluded with the Bazuka Handicap Stakes (Class 6) over 6 furlongs and 3 yards. Startled Lady, guided by Neil Callan, finished the evening in style with a determined effort. After travelling smoothly through the race, Startled Lady responded well in the closing stages to secure the final winner of the card.
