Spring racing comes alive at NORTHAM RACECOURSE, Western Australia, on 14 September with seven exciting races forming a lively afternoon program. It’s Tunes at the Track day, featuring One Fine Mess playing live music throughout the afternoon, Debortoli wine tasting for guests to enjoy, and best of all – free entry for everyone. With the first race at 11:10 AM and the finale at 2:30 PM, it promises a perfect blend of racing, music, and celebration for all who attend.

Race-Wise Structure

Race 1: WITTENS IRRIGATION AND DESIGN HANDICAP (11:10am)

The afternoon begins with a $17,000 race over 2200 metres for three-year-olds, a perfect curtain-raiser to set the mood for the day. ARNRAY, WICKED COOL, CREZEE head the field, looking ready to break through, while SALARY MAN, STYLE DIVA, PICTURE SCREEN and OPAL TANGO could pose a real challenge if they get a good start. This opener should set the rhythm for the rest of the meeting.

Race 2: TABTOUCH SCAN YOUR BET HANDICAP (11:45am)

The second race of the day brings a $17,000 rating 46+ handicap over 2200 metres, an intriguing contest for those seeking a step up in form. AL UNIQUE, ET TU BRUTE, DESERT EDGE will try to make their presence felt early, with WARRALEA DIAMOND, ZERA BLUE, ARGYLE STAR and TAVIOSA looking dangerous if the race plays to their strengths. This event should keep the energy flowing as the card builds.

Race 3: AVONWEST TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS HUB MAIDEN (12:20pm)

The third race lines up with a $25,000 Maiden Plate over 1000 metres, a race designed for those still chasing their first career win. NOW YOU SEE ME, I’M A SOULMAN, CHURLISH look ready to step up and shed the maiden tag, while WILUNA LASS, VIENNA CALLING and TYCOON DREAMER add depth to the line-up and could strike if they settle well early. This contest often reveals future improvers and should set the tone for the rest of the meeting.

Race 4: MORRIS PEST AND WEED CONTROL HANDICAP (12:55pm)

The fourth race sees a $30,000 Class Five Handicap over 1600 metres, a true stamina test at the heart of the card. MANHATTAN STRIP, COVERT ROSE, IDYLLIC RULER look capable of staying the trip, with SKETTA, KARLSTAD, GOT LUCKY and JUST LEROY likely to keep things competitive through the closing stages. A key mid-card race that could provide one of the highlights of the day.

Race 5: DEBORTOLI FAMILY WINEMAKERS MAIDEN (1:25pm)

The fifth race of the afternoon is a $25,000 Maiden Plate over 1300 metres, giving another group of runners the chance to break through for their first career victory. PROFOUND BENEFIT, TAKE THE FIELD, MIDNIGHT EXPRESS, POINT OF LUCK look among the leading hopes to finally shed the maiden tag, while BATTLE SHOTS, WAR COLOURS, DASHING DIVA and WATTO’S WARRIOR could spring a surprise if they find improvement at the right time. This event should keep the interest high as the meeting moves into its final stages.

Race 6: AFGRI EQUIPMENT MAIDEN (2:00pm)

The penultimate race is a $25,000 maiden quest over 1000 metres for three-year-olds and upwards who have not yet won three races. BEYOND THE WALL, SNIPPAGENT, JUNE’S ROSE, CELEBRITY ANGEL look to be leading contenders, with IMPENDING LASS, ROAMING AMERICA and KING’S DRAMA bringing enough experience to make things interesting. A tactical contest where timing will be everything.

Race 7: ZAX AND CO HANDICAP (2:30pm)

The day concludes with a $30,000 Class 3 Handicap over 1000 metres, a fitting finale to a lively afternoon. MAGIC BELLE, PROMISING, MAGALI MAGIC will be out to deliver a winning finish, while WICKED ONE, SPICY THANG, SOMETHING ROYAL and CALL OF DUTY could mount a late challenge to spoil the party. A great way to close the meeting at Northam.

As the last race is run and the music continues to play, Northam promises to leave everyone with a smile and a story or two to share. With its mix of competitive racing, live entertainment, and a relaxed springtime vibe, Tunes at the Track is set to be an afternoon where the joy of racing and the spirit of the season come together perfectly.
