Gulfstream Park will stage a 10-race programme on Saturday, September 5, with the opening race scheduled for 12:20 p.m. The Gulfstream Park racecards 5 September 2026 will feature the $65,000 MAMBO MEISTER OVERNIGHT HANDICAP over 1 1/16 miles on turf, while two $150,000 Florida-bred juvenile sprint stakes will also form part of the programme.
The MAMBO MEISTER will bring together eight runners aged three and upward and will provide Steal Sunshine with another opportunity to return to turf. The seven-year-old will represent Michael and Jules Iavarone and TCC Stables, with Bobby Dibona set to continue as his trainer.
Steal Sunshine will arrive with career earnings of $891,170 and will be approaching the $1 million milestone. His record will have comprised eight victories, five seconds and eight thirds from 40 starts, with 35 of those appearances having come on dirt.
His career will have begun on turf in December 2021, before he will have switched almost exclusively to dirt. His next 27 starts will have come on the surface, including stakes success at three and victory in the Gulfstream Park Mile (G2) in 2024.
Since then, Steal Sunshine will have added two victories and eight further placings from 20 starts, with four of those efforts coming in graded stakes. He will also have finished fourth in the 2025 Godolphin Mile (G2) in the Middle East.
Gulfstream Park Racecards 5 September 2026: Steal Sunshine Set for Turf Test
Following his Middle Eastern campaign, Dibona will have revisited turf with Steal Sunshine. The veteran will have finished second in a 1 1/16-mile optional-claiming allowance on turf in June 2025, behind Beach Gold.
Beach Gold will subsequently have won the Preview Mint Millions and established a course record at Ellis Park, giving Steal Sunshine’s earlier effort added context.
The turf experiment will have continued at Kentucky Downs, where Steal Sunshine will have finished last of 13 in the Mint Millions (G3). He will then have finished sixth, beaten three lengths, in the Jet Propulsion Overnight Handicap at Gulfstream Park.
His next turf appearance will have come in the Fort Lauderdale (G2) in December 2025. Steal Sunshine will have finished seventh in that contest, while Wolfie’s Dynaghost will have established a 1 1/8-mile course record.
Steal Sunshine will subsequently have returned to dirt, where his recent form will have become more consistent. His last three starts will have produced finishes of third or better, including victories in the WILDCAT RED OVERNIGHT HANDICAP and BLACK DIAMOND CAT OVERNIGHT HANDICAP, both over one mile. His latest appearance will have come on August 1.
Samy Camacho will ride Steal Sunshine from Post 2, while Dibona will look to guide the veteran towards another strong performance in the 1 1/16-mile turf feature.
Divin Propos will provide another significant challenge from Post 4, with Rasheed Hughes booked to ride. The six-year-old gelding will represent trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. and will have been bred in France.
Divin Propos will also have been entered in an optional-claiming allowance at Kentucky Downs. His recent form will have included a fourth-place finish in the Fort Lauderdale (G2), while his 2026 campaign will have included three starts without a victory, including fourth place in the Barbados Gold Cup (G1) on March 7.
Prevent will start from Post 1 for BC Racing, with Micah Husbands aboard. The five-year-old will have recorded eight career victories and four stakes successes. His latest stakes victory will have come in the CAROUSEL CLUB OVERNIGHT HANDICAP on January 24.
Prevent’s stakes record will have been built primarily on Tapeta, including his victory in the 2025 MAMBO MEISTER. His turf record will have comprised one victory from 13 starts, while his most recent appearance will have resulted in sixth place in the Empire Builder on August 2.
Tank will occupy Post 5 with Diego Herrera. Owned and bred by Arindel, the four-year-old will have developed a notable turf résumé through victories in the Sophomore Turf at Tampa Bay Downs, the English Channel and the 1 1/16-mile Not Surprising.
Tank will also have won the FHBPA TURF over 1 1/16 miles at Gulfstream Park on April 25. His latest start will have resulted in second place, with Siege of Boston finishing half a length ahead in the Empire Builder.
Private Thoughts will start from Post 3 with J.G. Torrealba, while Fiveeyesonskystars will occupy Post 6 with Miguel Vasquez. Iron Hand will break from Post 7 with Leonel Reyes, and Indecisiveness will complete the field from Post 8 with Anthony Thomas.
The programme will also include the $150,000 THREE RING for Florida-bred juvenile fillies and the $150,000 EXPRESS TOUR for Florida-bred juveniles. Both races will add further depth to a 10-race afternoon at the South Florida track.
The MAMBO MEISTER will carry the name of the South Florida campaigner who will have raced under trainer Phil Gleaves. The horse will have secured nine stakes victories, including the 2009 Spend a Buck Handicap (G3), the 2010 Miami Mile (G3) and the 2010 Memorial Day (G3). His career will have ended after the 2012 Mac Diarmida (G2), with 11 victories from 43 starts and earnings of $703,725.
The Gulfstream Park racecards 5 September 2026 will feature a 10-race programme headed by the $65,000 MAMBO MEISTER OVERNIGHT HANDICAP. Steal Sunshine will return to the turf feature alongside Divin Propos, Prevent, Tank and four other runners.
