Inglis Digital May Sale Produces Strong Trade for Broodmares

Australian Broodmare Sale Results took centre stage  delivering record-breaking turnover and renewed demand for proven bloodstock combined to produce a record-breaking result at the latest Australian broodmare auction, with Butter Blonde — in foal to the increasingly sought-after Home Affairs — leading the way at $350,000 during the Inglis Digital May (Early) Online Sale.

The result capped a highly successful Australian Broodmare Sale Session which generated $4,095,300 and helped lift the overall Inglis Digital May (Early) Sale turnover to $5,604,750, making it the highest-grossing May (Early) auction in the platform’s history.

Offered by Merricks Station, Butter Blonde was secured by Twin Hills Stud after strong competition throughout the session. The mare’s appeal was strengthened by her pregnancy to Home Affairs, whose popularity at stud continues to rise.

Merricks Station’s Ben Cooper described the outcome as his best result on the Inglis Digital platform to date.

“She was a timely mating with Home Affairs being red hot at the moment and presented us with a good trade opportunity with Inglis Digital but if we didn’t get what we wanted for her, we were more than happy to keep her with us,” Cooper said.

He added that the flexibility of the online platform had become a major advantage for breeders managing valuable mares.

“Working with Inglis Digital makes it so easy, particularly with mares like her that you’re happy to retain if you don’t make your price. They can just stay in their paddock which makes life a whole lot easier.”

Twin Hills Stud principal Olly Tait said Butter Blonde had been closely followed by the buying team because of her pedigree depth and commercial appeal.

“We’re delighted to get her. We had a group of us that owned a mare called Madame Cactus and she’s finished her time and we thought we’d reinvest and this mare came up on our radar,” Tait said.

“With a nice covering to Home Affairs, who looks very exciting, and coming from a fantastic family, she was a mare we really wanted.”

The Australian Broodmare Sale session also produced several other notable six-figure results. Bubba’s Bay, a six-year-old mare offered by owner Adrian Pazman, sold for $185,000 to CB Racing in consultation with Portia Baronian. Pazman indicated the mare is likely to be retired from racing and bred to Super Seth.

The third-highest lot of the session was the 13-year-old broodmare Kinshachi, purchased by Boomer Bloodstock for $175,000.

A major contributor to the session turnover was Godolphin, which sold 45 race fillies and broodmares for a combined $1,268,000. Godolphin Australia’s Racing and Bloodstock Manager Jason Walsh said the market had responded positively to the draft.

“We thought the draft was well matched on the Inglis Digital platform and the market responded accordingly,” Walsh said.

“There was healthy competition on a number of mares and the results were reflective of that.”

Further notable sales included Meseika ($160,000), Smirnova ($155,000), Influenza ($125,000), Twilight Zone ($120,000), Zelify ($120,000), She’s The Gift ($110,000), Alexandrine ($105,000), Serene Majesty ($100,000), and Your Time ($100,000).

The latest Australian Broodmare Sale results also pushed the number of six-figure lots sold through Inglis Digital since the beginning of 2025 to 170, underlining the continued strength of the online bloodstock market.

Attention will now shift to the upcoming Inglis Digital May (Late) Sale, scheduled to run from May 22 to May 28. Entries for the sale remain open until midnight on May 20, with broodmares and race fillies set to close on May 28 following the conclusion of the remaining catalogue a day earlier.

SHINING WAYS Wins The Star Contender Plate at Bangalore

At Bangalore Turf Club (BTC), the fifth race of the Bangalore Summer Meeting on Saturday, 16 May 2026, saw SHINING WAYS produce a polished winning effort in The Star Contender Plate, a maiden event for three-year-olds over 1200 metres. Run at 5:00 PM, the sprint contest formed an important part of the Bangalore race result 16 May coverage, with SHINING WAYS delivering a measured performance under Suraj Narredu for trainer S. Narredu. Representing the ownership combination of Mr Daulat Chhabria, Mr Teja Gollapudi, Dr Prabhakar Chowdary Tripuraneni, and Mr Ashok Ranpise, the colt stopped the clock at 1:13.44 to secure his maiden success in convincing fashion.

The race developed at a genuine pace from the outset, with several lightly raced runners showing early intent in the dash down the straight. SHINING WAYS travelled comfortably within striking distance before Suraj Narredu gradually angled the colt into contention approaching the final furlong. Once asked for an effort, the winner responded fluently, quickening decisively inside the last 200 metres and holding his advantage under confident handling to score with authority.

REGAL BEAUTY, ridden by Akshay Kumar and trained by Darius R. Byramji, finished second after staying on strongly in the closing stages, clocking 1:13.59. Third place went to BUREVESTNIK, partnered by Shreyas Singh for trainer S.S. Attaollahi, who completed the course in 1:13.92 after making late progress behind the leading pair.

With The Star Contender Plate concluded, attention at Bangalore Turf Club now shifts to The Manitou Plate scheduled for 5:30 PM, where another competitive field is expected to continue the evening’s racing momentum.
