The third race of the Calcutta Races Autumn Meeting (Third Day) on Thursday, 6th November 2025, saw a thrilling finish to The Crystal Man Handicap, a Class II contest for horses rated 61–86 (41–66 eligible), run over 1400 meters at 2:15 PM. Zuri, owned by Mrs. Rina Mahindra & Mr. Marthand Singh Mahindra, Mr. & Mrs. Farouq K. Rattonsey, Mr. Sameer F. Rattonsey, and Mr. Zaheer F. Rattonsey representing M/s Hyperion Bloodstock Pvt. Ltd., stole the spotlight under a composed ride by jockey Antony Raj S. for trainer Aashay Doctor, stopping the clock at 1:29.165.
Breaking cleanly from the gates, Zuri settled smartly in mid-division as the early leaders pushed the pace through the first half of the contest. Maintaining rhythm and restraint through the bend, Antony Raj timed his move with precision. Once set alight in the final furlong, Zuri quickened impressively to seize command in the closing strides, showcasing both power and poise to secure a decisive victory against seasoned opposition.
The runner-up honours went to Tycoonist (J: Arul J H, T: N. Darashah) who finished a close second with a time of 1:29.341, showing determination but unable to repel the winner’s surge. Roman Spirit (J: Vishal N. Bunde, T: B. Rajender Reddy) filled the minor placing in 1:29.496, running on gamely to complete a competitive trifecta.
With The Crystal Man Handicap wrapped up in style, excitement now builds for the next contest on the card — The Cherry Handicap, scheduled for 2:45 PM, as the Calcutta Autumn Meeting continues its vibrant Thursday card of racing action.
