The third day of the Mysore Summer Races 2025 continued in fine style with The Arakalgudu Plate, the richest race of the day. As the second race on the June 11 card, this 1200-meter maiden sprint for three-year-old Indian horses carried a substantial prize purse of ₹10,50,000 — with the winner set to claim ₹5,25,000.
True to expectations, the race delivered an exhilarating contest, culminating in a razor-thin photo finish. ZILFEE, expertly ridden by H. Rahul and trained by M. Eshwer, showed tenacity and timing to surge at the wire and capture victory with a time of 1:18.581. The win not only rewarded the connections with a handsome purse but also announced Zilfee as a promising sprinter in the making.
Finishing a breath behind was COSETTE, partnered by experienced jockey A. Ashhad Asbar and trained by Saddam Iqbal. Clocking 1:18.668, the filly ran an impressive race and nearly stole the show, but had to settle for second — earning ₹2,62,505 for the effort.
The third place was secured by MIND GAMES, ridden by Varun and trained by M. Pratap Kamath. Though slightly off the leaders’ pace, the gelding delivered a steady performance to complete the frame in 1:20.207.
The Arakalgudu Plate lived up to its billing as the day’s marquee race, blending speed, suspense, and a nail-biting finish. With the celebrations for Zilfee’s victory underway, attention now shifts to the third race of the afternoon — The Chaitanya Chakram Plate, as the Mysore Summer Races continue to captivate.
