Woodbine Entertainment has confirmed the cancellation of live Thoroughbred racing scheduled for Thursday, July 2, at Woodbine Racetrack following an unexpected sewer line leak affecting the All-Weather Main Track. The disruption was discovered near the half-mile pole, prompting immediate attention from maintenance teams and contractors on site.

Woodbine live racing cancellation update

The decision marks a significant mid-week interruption to the track’s planned programme, with officials prioritising safety and surface integrity before any racing activity can resume.

According to Woodbine Entertainment, contractors have already begun repair work on the affected section of the track and will continue throughout Thursday in an effort to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. As a result, not only has the live racing card been cancelled, but morning training sessions on the Main Track have also been called off.

In coordination with the Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association and the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, plans are being considered to reschedule Thursday’s seven-race card to Sunday, July 5. If approved, the races would be run under their original conditions as previously drawn, maintaining continuity for participants and connections.

Woodbine live racing cancellation update remains under active review as officials monitor repair progress and operational readiness for the coming days. A further update regarding Friday’s training schedule and live racing plans is expected to be issued on Thursday afternoon.

Should the revised plan proceed, Sunday’s expanded programme would feature the rescheduled seven races alongside a newly drawn portion of the card, creating a fuller day of racing action at the Toronto venue.

Track officials emphasised that safety and course integrity remain the top priority, with no timeline yet confirmed for a full return to normal training and racing operations.
