Woodbine Entertainment has confirmed that a special nine-race programme will be staged at Woodbine Racetrack on Monday, 20 July, following the cancellation of Friday’s fixture because of poor air quality. The revised card has received approval from the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario and was prepared in consultation with the Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association (HBPA), ensuring racing can resume under suitable conditions.

The additional fixture has been introduced to provide participants with an opportunity to contest races lost when Friday’s meeting was abandoned due to environmental conditions. The first race on Monday is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m. (local time), with a total of nine races forming the afternoon programme at Canada’s premier thoroughbred venue.

The revised schedule follows a challenging period in which air quality concerns affected racing operations in the Greater Toronto Area. By adding Monday’s programme, officials have ensured horses, owners, trainers and jockeys have another opportunity to compete while maintaining the integrity of the racing calendar.

Horsemen can access the official overnight entries for Monday’s programme through Woodbine’s published race information, while racing fans can look forward to the return of live action after Friday’s interruption.

Woodbine officials have also advised participants and followers to continue monitoring official updates for any further announcements relating to the meeting or future race programmes.

For racing enthusiasts, Monday’s fixture represents a swift response from officials to minimise disruption and keep the summer season on schedule at Woodbine Racetrack.
