A lively Saturday evening unfolded at the Wolverhampton Racecourse on March 7, where a competitive seven-race programme ran from 2:05pm to 5:35pm. The card combined sprint handicaps, a promising maiden contest and the Listed Lady Wulfruna Stakes, delivering an engaging afternoon of all-weather racing. By the end of the meeting, the spotlight belonged to Oisin Murphy, who produced a polished double including victory in the feature event.
The highlight arrived in Race 3, the Lady Wulfruna Stakes (Listed) over 7f 36y. Cool Hoof Luke rose to the occasion with a composed performance under Murphy. Travelling strongly throughout the contest, the runner quickened impressively in the final stages to secure the Listed prize and underline Murphy’s excellent evening in the saddle.
The meeting began with Race 1, The Make The Move Handicap Stakes (Class 3) over 6f 21y. Knebworth, ridden by Billy Loughnane, struck the first blow of the afternoon with a determined effort. The pair timed their run to perfection, finishing strongly to capture the opener.
Race 2, The Lincoln Trial Handicap Stakes (Class 2) over 1m 143y, saw Murphy register his first success of the card aboard The Lost King. The runner travelled comfortably through the race before asserting late, providing Murphy with a confident and well-judged victory.
Race 4 featured The Golden Goals Maiden Stakes (Class 3) over 1m 143y. Zambezi River (IRE) delivered a promising display to break maiden company, guided home by Harry Davies, who kept the runner balanced before pulling clear inside the final furlong.
Speed came to the fore in Race 5, The Next Generation Handicap Stakes (Class 6) over 5f 21y. Kento, ridden by Rossa Ryan, showed excellent early pace before holding off challengers in the closing stages to secure victory.
The penultimate contest, Race 6, The Handicap Stakes (Class 6) also over 5f 21y, produced a strong finish from Sands of Seve. Edward Greatrex delivered a perfectly timed challenge, pushing the runner ahead in the final furlong to claim the sprint.
The evening concluded with Race 7, The Built For 2026 Handicap Stakes (Class 4) over 1m 1f 104y. Way of Life, partnered by Olivia Tubb, finished the meeting in determined fashion, staying on strongly to capture the finale.
From Knebworth’s sharp opening victory to the Listed success of Cool Hoof Luke, the Wolverhampton Race Results 7 March provided an entertaining evening of all-weather action. With a feature win and another handicap success, Oisin Murphy’s double proved the defining storyline of a competitive and memorable card.
