Recognised as one of Britain’s established all-weather racing venues, Wolverhampton Racecourse will host a six-race evening programme on Friday, 29 May, featuring a varied sequence of handicap contests, novice events, juvenile races, and staying competitions on the Tapeta surface. The fixture will bring together runners across multiple age divisions, with prize money ranging from £9,400 to £15,750 throughout the card.

Opening the evening proceedings at 6:05pm, the Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap Stakes will be contested as a Class 5 event over 1m 4f 51y for horses aged four years and older. Carrying a purse of £9,400, the race is expected to feature a competitive field of 12 runners including I’d Go Maniac, Relocal, Pleasant Man, Arth’s Gold, Jack Sparowe, Lenny’s Spirit, and Sisterandbrother. The extended trip is likely to reward stamina and patient race management around Wolverhampton’s turning circuit.

Providing the first novice contest of the programme at 6:40pm, the Fillies’ Novice Stakes will bring together six runners for a Class 4 event over 1m 142y. Restricted to fillies aged three years and older, the race will offer prize money of £10,000 and is set to include Always Happy, Flagpole, Hatour, Hollywell Stream, Moonlit Surf, and Venetian Sky among the declared participants. The contest will present another developmental opportunity for lightly raced fillies in all-weather company.

Adding juvenile depth to the fixture at 7:15pm, the Fillies’ Novice Stakes for two-year-olds will be run as a Class 3 contest over 7f 36y. The £13,000 race is expected to attract six runners including Anad, Angel Sense, Harlequin Sky, Mohaymenah, Rosevannion, and Zarakova. The race will provide an informative early-season examination for emerging juvenile fillies stepping into stronger company.

Continuing the programme at 7:50pm, the Handicap Stakes will be staged as a Class 5 event over 7f 36y for three-year-olds. The race, carrying prize money of £9,400, is expected to feature 11 runners including Dublin Bay, Enamorus, Wyle Cop, Night Mission, Comprador, Paranjape, and Court of Stars. Several progressive runners are likely to continue their handicap development under evening conditions on the Tapeta track.

Bringing sprint action into focus at 8:25pm, another Handicap Stakes will take place over 5f 21y for horses aged four years and older. The Class 5 contest will offer £9,400 in prize money and is set to attract a field including Alondra, Hedge Fund, Spendmore Lane, True Promise, Curious Rover, Dark Kestrel, and Ancient State. The sharp sprint distance is expected to place considerable emphasis on early pace and tactical positioning from the outset.

Concluding the evening fixture at 9:00pm, the Handicap Stakes will serve as the feature Class 3 contest over 1m 4f 51y for three-year-olds. The race will carry the highest prize fund on the card at £15,750 and is expected to feature four declared runners: High Storm, Baltic Fleet, Galilean Quality, and Mythical Bay. The staying handicap will bring the Wolverhampton programme to a close with a competitive small-field contest under floodlit conditions.

The six-race Wolverhampton card will provide a balanced mixture of sprinting, middle-distance racing, juvenile contests, and staying handicaps as the all-weather venue continues its late-May racing schedule.
