Wolverhampton Race Cards 2 January will outline a full nine-race all-weather fixture scheduled to take place on Friday, 2 January, with racing set to run from 4:30pm through to 8:30pm. The card will open at 4:30pm with a Class 6 handicap over 6f 20y for horses aged four and older. Twelve runners will be declared for the £9,000 contest, with ratings ranging from 46 to 65, setting an early test of speed and consistency around the sharp Wolverhampton circuit.
At 5:00pm and 5:30pm, the focus will turn to back-to-back Class 6 classified stakes over 5f 21y. Each division will attract nine runners rated between 0 and 50, with both races offering £6,000 in prize money. These short-distance contests will place emphasis on early pace and track position.
The 6:00pm race will feature a Class 4 maiden stakes over 7f 36y. Open to three-year-olds and older, the £10,000 event will see eight runners line up, providing an opportunity for lightly raced performers to progress under evening conditions.
A Class 5 handicap will follow at 6:30pm over the same 7f 36y trip. Seven runners rated between 51 and 70 will compete for £7,100, with the race expected to suit those showing versatility over extended sprint distances.
At 7:00pm, attention will shift to a Class 5 handicap over 1m 142y. Eight runners rated from 56 to 75 will contest the £7,100 prize, with stamina and tactical awareness likely to be decisive factors around the final bend.
The 7:30pm race will return to sprinting conditions, with a Class 5 handicap over 5f 21y. Eight runners will be scheduled to take part, again rated between 51 and 70, in another £7,100 contest that will reward sharp acceleration.
The evening will conclude with two divisions of a Class 6 handicap over 1m 1f 104y at 8:00pm and 8:30pm. Each division will feature ten runners aged four and older, competing for £6,000 apiece, providing a balanced test of stamina to bring the card to a close.
