The meeting opened over six furlongs before moving through distances ranging from a mile to more than a mile and three furlongs. Six different winners emerged across the evening, with Madman, Methgal, Colourband, Waterford Castle, City of Poets and Aravalli each taking their respective races. The results also showcased a strong mix of experienced riders, with David Egan, Pat Dobbs, Harry Davies, Billy Loughnane, Rob Hornby and Taylor Fisher all registering victories.
The most prominent race on the evening was the Rip Susan Procter Memorial Handicap Stakes, a Class 3 contest over 1 mile, 2 furlongs and 9 yards. City of Poets (IRE) produced the winning performance under Rob Hornby, adding another notable result to a card that featured several competitive middle-distance races. The contest carried particular significance as a memorial race, combining sporting competition with a tribute to Susan Procter.
City of Poets was one of the standout performers of the meeting, with Hornby guiding the horse to victory over the demanding distance. The race formed the fifth event of the evening at 7:41pm and came after the Class 3 maiden earlier on the card. Its longer trip required a different test from the opening sprint races, making the performance of City of Poets particularly noteworthy. The result rounded off the principal action before the evening concluded with the 1 mile, 3 furlong and 108-yard contest.
The opening race at 5:36pm was the Play the Matchbook Match 6 Handicap Stakes, a Class 5 event over six furlongs and 12 yards. Madman came out on top with David Egan in the saddle.
The six-furlong distance provided a sharp start to the evening, demanding early pace and a strong finish. Madman produced the required performance to secure the opening victory and set the tone for the remainder of the meeting.
The second contest, staged at 6:11pm, was another Class 6 handicap over six furlongs and 12 yards. Methgal (IRE) emerged as the winner, with Pat Dobbs aboard
Following the opening sprint, the race offered another opportunity for the runners to demonstrate their pace over the same distance. Methgal successfully completed the task, giving Dobbs his first winning ride of the evening and providing the second different winner on the card.
The meeting then moved up in distance for the 6:41pm #Matchbook Loves Racing Handicap Stakes, a Class 4 contest over one mile and 40 yards. Colourband (IRE) secured the victory under Harry Davies.
The mile contest represented a change of emphasis from the two opening six-furlong races. With the additional distance, positioning and stamina became increasingly important, and Colourband delivered the performance required to claim the third race of the evening.
The 7:11pm race brought another step up in class with the Matchbook Exchange Supporting UK Racing Maiden Stakes, a Class 3 contest over one mile, two furlongs and nine yards. Waterford Castle (IRE) took the honours, partnered by Billy Loughnane.
The result gave Waterford Castle a notable success in a race that tested runners over a significantly longer distance than the opening events. Loughnane’s winning ride added another highlight to an evening that featured several leading jockeys.
At 7:41pm, attention turned to the Rip Susan Procter Memorial Handicap Stakes, with City of Poets (IRE) victorious under Rob Hornby. The Class 3 race covered one mile, two furlongs and nine yards.
The memorial contest was one of the evening’s principal races and provided a fitting tribute through a competitive Flat race. City of Poets delivered the winning performance to become the fifth different winner of the six-race meeting.
The final race at 8:11pm was the Classic Golden Music Group 10th Anniversary Handicap Stakes, a Class 5 contest over one mile, three furlongs and 108 yards. Aravalli (IRE) completed the evening with victory, ridden by Taylor Fisher.
The longest race on the card provided a stamina test to bring the programme to a close. Aravalli responded successfully, giving Fisher a memorable finish to the Windsor fixture.
Overall, the six-race meeting produced six individual winners and a varied programme from sprinting speed to longer-distance stamina. Madman began the evening strongly, while Methgal and Colourband followed before Waterford Castle and City of Poets delivered the middle-distance highlights. Aravalli then completed the card with victory in the closing contest. Windsor’s summer programme continues to combine racing with evening entertainment, and the August 13 meeting once again provided a full night of action at the Berkshire venue.
