The picturesque and historically rich Wincanton Racecourse hosted a well-contested seven-race National Hunt fixture on Monday, 23 March, conducted under standard jumping conditions and featuring a balanced programme of hurdle and steeplechase contests. The card, comprising Class 3 to Class 5 events, brought together a varied field of amateur riders, novice prospects, and seasoned handicappers, offering a comprehensive and demanding test of stamina, jumping precision, and racecraft.

The opening contest, The Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother Military Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 4), was secured in commanding fashion by HOMME D’UN SOIR. Ridden and trained by Lt Billy Aprahamian for owners JB Harper and Cavalry and Guards, the winner asserted clear superiority late on to register a convincing 10-length success over MOUTARDE, with BIGZ BELIEF occupying third position.

In the second race, The Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 4), developed into a closely contested and competitive affair. OUR DYLAN, under a well-judged and patient ride from Mr Joshua Newman and prepared by Kayley Woollacott for the 4Racing Owners Club, displayed notable resilience to prevail by ½ length over AT THE OCHE, while BALBOA followed in third.

In the Molson Coors ‘National Hunt’ Maiden Hurdle Race (Class 4) (GBB Race), STANNERS GLEN delivered a performance of measured authority and control. Guided by Bryan Carver and trained by Harry Fry for Tony Gill, Michael Yates & Partners, the winner travelled with composure throughout before asserting to defeat KILNEW SUPREME by 3 lengths, with DANTE’S ROCCO taking third.

The Welcome Back To Racing Caroline Novices’ Handicap Steeple Chase (Class 4) (GBB Race) saw MELTON MOSSY produce a resolute and determined effort over fences. Ridden by Conor Ring and trained by Mrs C. Williams for Vale Racing 1, the gelding maintained sustained pressure throughout to secure a 1¼-length victory over SANITISER, while SAGE GREEN completed the frame.

A particularly emphatic and dominant display was witnessed in The Winolympics Family Day April 12th Mares’ Handicap Steeple Chase (Class 4), where TAXUS BACCATA controlled proceedings from an early stage. Under Charlie Price and trained by Robbie Llewellyn for On The Gallops 1, the mare drew progressively clear to record an authoritative 23-length triumph. MOVIDDY finished second, with LAGONDA in third.

The feature contest, The Jim Morgan and Ronnie Stevens Memorial Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 3), unfolded as a finely balanced and competitive contest. MOVEIT LIKE MINNIE, ridden with precision and timing by Sam Twiston-Davies and trained by Nigel & Willy Twiston-Davies for Mr F J Mills & Mr W R Mills, demonstrated tenacity to hold AMBION VIEW by ¾ length, with VALADON taking third.

The concluding race, The Golf Membership Novices’ Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 5), was won with assurance by JACKOMY. Partnered by Conor O’Farrell and trained by Neil Mulholland for owner Mr Anwar Badri, the winner travelled strongly throughout before asserting to score by 4¼ lengths over RIBBA HILL, while WHAT A DRAGON finished third.

The Wincanton Race Results 23 March card illustrated a sequence of authoritative and tactically astute performances, with several winners asserting clear superiority and reinforcing the overall depth and competitive quality across the meeting.
