The historic Warwick Racecourse staged an eight-race National Hunt programme on Saturday afternoon, where established performers and emerging runners produced decisive performances across hurdles, steeplechases, and a concluding mares’ flat contest.
Racing began at 12:40pm and continued through the late afternoon, with several races producing clear-cut margins and a number of trainers securing notable victories across different classes on the card.
The opening Maiden Hurdle (Class 4) saw JUST GOLDEN deliver a polished performance to beat Chasing Glance by 2ÂĽ lengths. Jockey Tristan Durrell, trainer Dan Skelton, and owners The Late John Hales and Miss L Hales combined for the opening success of the afternoon.
The afternoon’s mares’ hurdle contest (Class 1) followed, where HOLLYGROVE CHA CHA pulled clear late to defeat Jubilee Alpha by four lengths, with jockey Gavin Sheehan, trainer Jamie Snowden, and owners Hot To Trot Jumping securing a comfortable graded victory.
The Grade 2 novices’ steeplechase produced one of the most commanding efforts of the meeting as STEEL ALLY surged clear to beat Mirabad by ten lengths, giving jockey Dylan Johnston, trainer Sam Thomas, and owners Walters Plant Hire Ltd a notable success.
In the Veterans’ Handicap Chase (Class 2), experienced campaigner GUARD YOUR DREAMS produced a strong staying effort to score by 13 lengths from Fugitif, rewarding the partnership of jockey Toby McCain-Mitchell, trainers Nigel & Willy Twiston-Davies, and owners Graham and Alison Jelley.
The Grade 2 mares’ novices’ hurdle that followed resulted in a closely fought finish, with KINGSTON QUEEN edging White Noise by three-quarters of a length, providing jockey Conor O’Farrell, trainer David Pipe, and owners The Kingstonians another notable success on the afternoon.
The afternoon’s handicap hurdle (Class 4) went to CORNISH STORM, who asserted late to defeat Le Yacht by 3½ lengths, delivering victory for jockey Ben Jones, trainer Stuart Kittow, and owners The Cornish Storm Partnership.
The penultimate handicap hurdle (Class 3) saw PHANTOMOFTHEPOINTS maintain control to beat Fingle Bridge by 4ÂĽ lengths, giving jockey Rian Corcoran, trainer David Pipe, and owners Mrs Jo Tracey, K Alexander, P & S Bryceland further success on the card.
The meeting concluded with the mares’ National Hunt Flat Race (Class 5), where POPTON POINT prevailed in a tight finish, holding off Vrheligonne by a neck, providing victory for jockey Luke Scott, trainer Jennie Candlish, and owner Mrs Judith Ratcliff.
The Warwick Race Results 7 February produced several decisive margins, particularly in the chase contests, where experienced runners capitalised on stamina and jumping efficiency. The afternoon also highlighted strong performances from developing mares and novice runners, offering useful indicators for upcoming spring fixtures as trainers began shaping campaigns for the closing phase of the season.
