The picturesque Mysore Race Club was set for an exhilarating day on the 22nd January 2025, hosting the 11th day of the Winter Races for the 2024-25 season, with a lineup of seven races to thrill horse racing enthusiasts. The day’s highlight was undoubtedly the Kodachadri Plate, kicking off at 2:00 PM. This race, exclusive to maiden three-year-olds over 1400 meters, boasted the highest prize money of the day with a total of Rs. 10,00,000.
AMAZING IMRARIFA, expertly handled by trainer Mansoor Khan and jockey L. Alex Rozario, took the top spot, securing a hefty Rs. 5,00,000. The race was closely contested with MYSORE PHARAOH and MIND GAMES finishing in second and third, respectively.
The Ujire Plate Div-2, for class 5 horses rated 00 to 25, followed at 2:30 PM over 1100 meters. CLYDE STAR, trained by K Aditya with Siddaraju P as the jockey, clinched the victory, taking home Rs. 1,87,505. This race was particularly competitive, with ARIGATO and D UNITED securing the next two places, demonstrating the promise of the lower-rated horses.
At 3:00 PM, the Super Speed Plate, a class 4 race for horses aged six and above rated between 20 to 45, covered 1600 meters. NATURAL WARRIOR, again from Mansoor Khan’s stable and ridden by L Alex Rozario, emerged as the winner, earning Rs. 2,25,000. SARVOTTAM and COYOTE GIRL followed in second and third, respectively, showcasing the depth of talent in this category.
The Ujire Plate Div-1 at 3:30 PM, mirroring the conditions of Div-2, saw GENTLEMAN’S WORD, trained by S Santosh Rao and with P Sai Kumar in the saddle, take the lead with the same prize as Div-2. This race which had total prize money of Rs. 3,75,000 highlighted the potential of class 5 horses, with COUNTRY’S VERSE and NIMBLE SPIRIT taking the subsequent positions.
The Equine Veterinarians Trophy at 4:00 PM for class 3 horses rated between 40 to 65 over 1200 meters was a showcase of mid-tier talent. GRACE, trained by K Aditya and ridden by Siddaraju P, won the race, with the winner’s prize undisclosed but contributing to a total purse of Rs. 5,75,000. VARDAAN and COURT JESTER rounded out the top three.
The Ajantha Plate, for class 2 horses rated 60 and above, ran at 4:30 PM over 1600 meters. SEA THE SUN, under trainer Vishal Yadav and jockey Vinod Shinde, claimed the top prize of Rs. 3,50,000, showcasing superior performance among the elite horses. AABUSHAN and CONFIDENT GAME followed, making for an exciting race.
The day concluded with the Allies Serenade Plate at 5:00 PM, another class 4 event for horses rated 20 to 45 over 1100 meters. STREET SENSE, trained by Feroz M Khan and ridden by Siddaraju P, took first place with a prize of Rs. 2,25,000. SHERPA and MARK ONE secured the subsequent positions, rounding off a day filled with competitive spirit and remarkable performances on the track.
