Day 3 of the Bangalore Summer Meeting began on an energetic note, with VEGATHA powering to a convincing win in The Royal Tern Plate, the opening contest of the day. The 1200-meter race, open exclusively to three-year-old horses, saw a competitive field, but it was VEGATHA, trained by P. S. Chouhan and ridden to perfection by Imran Chisty, who stole the show. The filly surged ahead in the final furlong to clock 1:14.37, setting the pace for the rest of the day’s racing.

ZEPHYRINE, trained by Irfan Ghatala and partnered by jockey Arvind Kumar. N, gave a solid chase and showed promise with a runner-up finish in 1:15.00. Despite a strong effort, ZEPHYRINE was unable to match VEGATHA’s final kick in the last 100 meters but maintained a respectable margin over the rest of the field.

Finishing third was BIG B, a colt trained by Narayana Gowda V with Angad in the saddle. BIG B came in at 1:15.59, rounding off a well-contested top three in a race that offered plenty of early-season insight into some of Bangalore’s upcoming three-year-old hopefuls.

The victory will be a confidence booster for trainer P. S. Chouhan and jockey Imran Chisty, marking a successful partnership that could be a force to reckon with as the season progresses. With several promising names making their seasonal debuts, the Royal Tern Plate provided early indicators of form and fitness.

As the day unfolds at Bangalore Turf Club, the excitement continues with the next race on the card — The Supervite Plate (Division II). Stay tuned for more updates as the action builds at one of India’s premier racing venues.
