The Longines Global Champions Tour of Mexico City commenced with an electrifying atmosphere as spectators filled the stands at Campo Marte, eagerly anticipating a world-class show jumping spectacle. The competition did not disappoint, with an extraordinary display of skill, precision, and speed. Among the stellar performances, Simon Delestre emerged as the standout rider, securing a consecutive victory in Mexico City. Riding Golden Boy DK, Delestre dominated the Trofeo Traxion 1.45m Two-Phase event, mirroring his triumph in the same category last year.

Radiating confidence and satisfaction, Delestre expressed his delight over his recent performances. He acknowledged the incredible form of his horses and the exhilarating experience of competing in Mexico. The crowd, energized by the high-level competition, enthusiastically supported both international equestrian stars and homegrown talents, including Nicolas Pizarro, Carlos Hank Guerreiro, and Fernando Martinez Sommer.

The course, meticulously designed by Anderson De Moura Lima, posed significant challenges to the riders, testing their agility and precision. Jérôme Guery and Killer Queen initially set a strong benchmark with a swift and flawless round of 30.64 seconds. Mariano Martinez Bastida and Jup attempted to surpass this impressive time but fell short of the leading performance.

Gilles Thomas and Elfra van Beek Z delivered an exceptional display of consistency, earning a well-deserved position in the top five. However, it was Delestre’s masterful control and impeccable timing that secured him the fastest round of the competition, finishing in under 30 seconds. Ignacio Maurin, partnering with Chacco-Conno PS, delivered an impressive effort to claim second place, while Guery and Killer Queen settled for third on the podium.

As the weekend’s competitions continue to unfold, the excitement builds for the upcoming CSI5* events, where elite riders such as Christian Ahlmann, Katrin Eckermann, Edwina Tops-Alexander, Maikel Van Der Vleuten, and Olivier Philippaerts are set to showcase their expertise. Enthusiasts eagerly await the GCL of Mexico City, a premier team event promising high-intensity action. The tournament remains a highlight on the equestrian calendar, drawing global attention with its spectacular venue and world-class competitors.
