The seventh race of the Pune Meeting 2025, Eighth Day, Sunday 21st September at the Royal Western India Turf Club delivered a thrilling finish as Tyrannus (J: Antony Raj S., T: Imtiaz A. Sait) claimed victory in The DCN Million, a terms race for three-year-old Indian horses run over 1400 metres at 03:45 PM. Racing in the colours of Mr C. Aryama Sundaram, the three-year-old bay gelding showed class and authority, stopping the clock at 1:25:133 to secure a well-deserved win.
Breaking sharply and settling in a handy position, Tyrannus was kept well within striking range by jockey Antony Raj S. As the field turned for home, the Sait-trained runner displayed an impressive turn of foot, surging clear in the final furlong to establish a commanding lead. The performance underlined both his maturity and his potential in terms company, leaving rivals with little chance to respond.
The runner-up honours went to Caradoc (J: P. Trevor, T: Dallas Todywalla), who fought valiantly but had to settle for second. Completing the frame was Diego Garcia (J: A. Sandesh, T: Nirad Karanjawala), who closed steadily to finish third, rounding off a high-quality contest among promising three-year-olds.
With The DCN Million concluded, anticipation now builds toward the day’s feature attraction, the Indian St. Leger (Gr. 1), scheduled for 04:20 PM, where the spotlight will shift to the endurance stars of the season.
