The Delhi Race Club is currently hosting the Delhi Meeting 2024–2025, and on April 20, 2025, it presented a thrilling horse racing fixture with six races on the day’s card. The first race began at 3:30 PM, and the last concluded at 6:00 PM, with several standout performances from promising horses.
One of the highlights of the day was the D.R.C. Managing Committee Juvenile Sprinters Cup, the fifth race on the card. This 1200-meter contest carried a total prize purse of ₹5,84,250 and began at 5:30 PM. ASHWA VEERAM, a three-year-old bay colt by Desert God out of Bling, clinched victory under jockey K. Nazil, trained by S. Nawab, recording a time of 1:12.458. Finishing second was AMAZING IMRARIFA, a three-year-old bay gelding by Saamidd (GB) out of Naughty Thoughts (IRE), ridden by Ankit Pal and trained by Mansoor Khan, with a time of 1:12.866. In third place was ASHWA JIMBABE, a three-year-old bay filly by Moonlight Magic (GB) out of Cogito Ergo Sum, piloted by Shivam and also trained by S. Nawab, finishing in 1:13.394.
The day commenced with the Little Lady Plate, a 1600-meter race offering a total prize of ₹3,10,000. ASHWA KANGTO secured a convincing win, ridden by A.S. Peter and trained by S. Nawab, stopping the clock at 1:42.270. MR CHRISTOPHER, guided by Vishal and trained by Syed H. Abbas, finished second in 1:42.506. CURRENCY claimed third place under Praveen Saini, trained by Shakti Singh, with a time of 1:43.396.
The second race of the day was the Amazing Fighter Plate, run over 1400 meters with a total prize of ₹2,60,000. FRANCO, under Aman and trained by Syed H. Abbas, took first place with a time of 1:34.638. ASHWA SABIRA, ridden by K. Nazil and trained by S. Nawab, came second at 1:35.192. The third spot was secured by LOVING DREAM, piloted by R. Rakesh for trainer Rajinder, with a time of 1:35.497.
The third race was the Young Lady Plate, another 1400-meter contest, this time with a total purse of ₹3,45,000. ASHWA VEDHA recorded a dominant win with A.S. Peter aboard, trained by S. Nawab, clocking in at 1:25.221. PARTY DREAMS, ridden by Shivam and trained by R. Kumar, finished second at 1:26.173. DIVIT, guided by R.N. Manjhi for Zulfiqar Khan, claimed third in 1:26.302.
The fourth race of the day, the Silver Fortress Plate Div 1, spanned 1100 meters and had a total prize of ₹2,85,000. BELLAGIO, ridden by K. Nazil and trained by S. Nawab, surged to victory in 1:06.408. WANDERING ANGEL, under Arjun for trainer Syed H. Abbas, came second at 1:07.202. NICHE CURRENCY, piloted by Shivam and trained by S. M. Abbas, completed the podium with a time of 1:07.349.
The final race of the day was the Silver Fortress Plate Div 2, held at 6:00 PM. NASHVEGAS delivered a strong performance to win the race under Rajinder Saini, trained by S. M. Abbas, clocking a time of 1:06.232. SHERA finished second under Varun for trainer K. Ali Khan, timing 1:06.659. SENOR, with K. Sunny Kumar aboard and trained by Sarfaraz Khan, completed the race in 1:06.931 for third place.
After a day filled with competitive racing, the excitement transitioned to the next race day on April 24, 2025, which featured six more races on the schedule. The first race was the Young Panther Plate, a 1000-meter sprint that proved to be the highlight of the day with a total prize purse of ₹5,00,000. ROCKET ROD, trained by K. P. Singh and ridden by Shivam, claimed victory with a time of 1:01.339. MISS SULTANA, under R. Rakesh for trainer Mohsin Khan, finished second at 1:01.772. STYLISH DANCER, piloted by Dhanu Singh Deora and also trained by Mohsin Khan, secured third place with a time of 1:02.292.
The second race, the Prince Blossom Plate, was a 1100-meter dash held at 4:00 PM. ASHWA HARBIR, under K. Narender Kumar and trained by S. Nawab, emerged victorious in 1:06.752. THE MENTALIST, ridden by Mohd Talib and trained by Sarfaraz Khan, came second with 1:07.252. ASHWA NIRJRA, with A. S. Peter aboard and trained by S. Nawab, took third in 1:07.541.
The third race, the Sabre Dance Plate, a 1400-meter contest offering ₹2,85,000 in prize money, saw TRUSTED FRIEND take the win under Arjun, trained by S. M. Abbas, with a time of 1:27.879. ASHWA DENALI, ridden by Kundan Paswan and trained by S. Nawab, followed in second at 1:28.173. GIRL POWER, guided by Varun for trainer Imdad Ali Khan, finished third in 1:28.342.
The fourth race, the Burning Fire Plate, spanned 1200 meters. PROPERLY POSH took top honors with S. G. Prasad in the saddle, trained by Sarfaraz Khan, finishing in 1:12.394. NIZBATI WARRIOR, under Lave Kumar for S. M. Abbas, was second at 1:13.083. ASHWA KOHIMA, guided by A. S. Peter and trained by Irfan Ali, clocked in at 1:13.392 for third place.
In the fifth race, the Accalia Plate Div 1, a 1000-meter sprint with ₹3,10,000 at stake, ASHWA EMPEROR delivered a dominant performance. Ridden by K. Nazil and trained by S. Nawab, the horse finished in a fast 0:59.239. LITTLE MORE, under K. Narender Kumar for Irfan Ali, finished second in 1:00.284. KAKA, ridden by Vishal and trained by Syed H. Abbas, placed third with 1:00.720.
The final race of April 24 was the Accalia Plate Div 2. BISON, trained by S. M. Abbas and ridden by Rajinder Saini, took the win with a time of 1:00.121. SENOR, under S. G. Prasad for Sarfaraz Khan, finished second at 1:00.267. BIGG TYMER, guided by R. Parvesh and trained by Imdad Ali Khan, claimed third with a time of 1:00.310.
Both race days delivered thrilling experiences for racing fans and showcased rising talent among both horses and jockeys. The focus now turns to the next exciting day of the Delhi Meeting, scheduled for April 27, 2025.
