Tolkien Announces Arrival in the Champion Trainer Cup

Under the golden sun at Bangalore Turf Club, the final day of the Bangalore Summer Meeting 2025 kicked off with a stirring start. The Champion Trainer Cup, a 1600-meter terms race exclusively for maiden three-year-olds, offered a purse of ₹11,00,000 and delivered a quality curtain-raiser.

Tolkien, trained by Darius R. Byramji and ridden with polished assurance by Antony Raj S., surged into the spotlight. Representing Sarainaga Racing Pvt Ltd, the bay colt settled comfortably through the early stages before quickening into command in the home straight, stopping the clock at 1:37.51. It was a performance that reflected both class and composure.

In pursuit, André, guided by P. Trevor for trainer Bharath Singh, showed promise but lacked the final burst needed to challenge the winner, finishing in 1:37.52.

Finishing third was Pristine Glory, ridden by A. Sandesh for Karthik Ganapathy, who completed the trip in 1:37.92, rounding out a trio that left the field well strung out behind.

A Promising Day Ahead

With the Governor’s Cup (Grade III) slated for 4:00 PM, the day’s atmosphere is laced with expectation. This final meeting of the summer season features a competitive eight-race card, set under good going conditions with an average penetrometer reading of 3.4 cm.

Race enthusiasts can continue to track the excitement of the card as the day unfolds. From the Sayonara Plate to The Champion Jockey Cup Div II, it promises action and accolades in equal measure.
