Nestled in Fuchū city on the outskirts of Tokyo, the TOKYO RACECOURSE hosted a full-day spectacle on Sunday, 2nd November, featuring 12 races from 10:00am to 4:30pm. This meeting forms part of Japan’s autumn racing season and was doubly significant as Host to the legendary Tenno Sho (Autumn) (G1) event — one of the flagships of the Japanese calendar. With turf in “Good to Firm” condition and the home-straight stretching long in typical Tokyo style, the day brought together top-class talent and serious contenders alongside emerging horses looking to make their mark.

Race 1 (10:00am, 1600 metres)

The opener set the tone, with GRAND CELESTE powering through in 1:33.6. Jockey KOSEI MIURA rode with clear purpose, trainer MASAHIRO TAKEUCHI had the mount in peak shape, breeder SHIMOKOBE FARM saw their lines rewarded, and owner FIELD RACING celebrated the first win of the day. SOUTHERN TEIO kept the pressure on, while GRAN MAESTRO held its form to claim third.

Race 2 (10:30am, 1400 metres)

In the second contest, HERITAGE BLOOM delivered a finely judged finish in 1:24.0, displaying both pace and composure. With KEITA TOSAKI navigating the run perfectly, trainer KEIZO ITO’s preparation proved fruitful, breeder SHADAI FARM took pride in the result, and owner TERUYA YOSHIDA enjoyed the success. RUNNING BEACH closed strongly for second, and WING BLUE completed the placings with great effort.

Race 3 (11:00am, 1800 metres)

The third milestone saw TASSEL KNOT cross first in 1:47.5, guided by CHRISTOPHE LEMAIRE’s steady hand and TORU HAYASHI’s clear approach. Breeder NORTHERN FARM had reason to smile, and owner SILK RACING CO. LTD. took the win in stride. RUMBERA kept in touch through the finish, while FURTHER AWAY stayed on for a strong third.

Race 4 (11:30am, 1600 metres)

Mid-card, and the level lifted. MORETON ISLAND asserted control in 1:33.6, with CHRISTOPHE LEMAIRE showing sharp timing, TAKAHISA TEZUKA’s work paying off, breeder NORTHERN RACING seeing their stock shine, and owner SILK RACING CO. LTD. proud of the result. Y’S FAMIGLIA remained close until late, while ONE WORLD kept up and competed well for third.

Race 5 (12:20pm, 2000 metres)

The fifth event brought drama and depth. ARROW METAL claimed the prize in 2:03.6, riding strongly under CHRISTOPHE LEMAIRE, with TETSUYA KIMURA having the horse ready for prime competition. Breeder NORTHERN RACING’s return was well-earned, and owner SILK RACING CO. LTD. enjoyed the spotlight. OMEGA DICKON pushed hard for second, while ADMIRE FUKU held on for a worthy third.

Race 6 (12:50pm, 1400 metres)

In race six, UNQUENCHABLE demonstrated class to seal the win in 1:23.6. The ride from KOSEI MIURA was precise, trainer MIZUKI TAKAYANAGI’s preparation paid dividends, breeder as well as owner GODOLPHIN shared the moment. KUNINO HAPPY stayed in contention until the end, and KYOEI SE LEVE finished strongly for third.

Race 7 (1:20pm, 1600 metres)

Stepping into the heart of the day, J L MASTER executed a strong finish to win in 1:35.8. NORIHIRO YOKOYAMA timed the move perfectly, KAZUO KONISHI’s program showed up, breeder as well as owner YUKIHITO HASHIMOTO enjoyed the payoff and left satisfied. LE VALET D’COEUR held its form for second, and CAUCASUS GOLD rounded out the frame with credit.

Race 8: HYAKUNICHISO TOKUBETSU (1:55pm, 2000 metres)

The eighth race delivered high quality as AKKAN crossed first in 2:00.1. With KENICHI IKEZOE’s ride full of intent, TAKESHI OKUMURA fine-tuned the effort, breeder NORTH GARDEN saw success, and owner GRANDE RACING CO. LTD. celebrated. FORTE ANGELO ran on well for second, and COSMO ELVAR kept going for third.

Race 9: KUNITACHI TOKUBETSU (2:25pm, 1600 metres)

Approaching the later stages, EMPEROR’S SWORD held off strong competition to win in 1:33.1, under the guidance of AKIRA SUGAWARA. Trainer NOBORU TAKAGI’s planning came together, breeder HAKUREI FARM CO. LTD.’s lines paid off, and owner MAKIO OKADA appreciated the result. AMPADU pressed until late, while ARGENTEUS stayed on for the minor placing.

Race 10: SHUREI STAKES (3:01pm, 1300 metres)

As the afternoon matured, ECORO AZEL produced a polished run in 1:16.5 to take the tenth race. TAISEI DANNO judged pace and timing with finesse, trainer HIDEYUKI MORI’s work stood up, breeder CRAWFORD FARMS enjoyed the outcome, and owner MASATOSHI HARAMURA left the course pleased. DRAGON WELDS chased gallantly, and TOKUSHI KAISER held on for third.

Race 11: THE TENNO SHO(AUTUMN)(G1) (3:40pm, 2000 metres)

One of the penultimate events, MASQUERADE BALL delivered under pressure in 1:58.6. With CHRISTOPHE LEMAIRE guiding expertly and TAKAHISA TEZUKA’s preparation proving strong, breeder SHADAI FARM and owner SHADAI RACE HORSE CO. LTD. celebrated the achievement. MUSEUM MILE ran hard for second, while JUSTIN PALACE maintained enough to secure third.

Race 12: KIYOSATO TOKUBETSU (4:30pm, 1600 metres)

The final act of the day: ROSSINIANA surged to victory in 1:37.4, closing a significant day in Tokyo’s autumn racing calendar. CHRISTOPHE LEMAIRE delivered when it mattered, trainer TETSUYA KIMURA ended the card on a high, breeder TOM DURANT recorded another success, and owner KAZUMI YOSHIDA left with pride. T O LYMAN ran a strong second, and DANTSU FIGHTER held on for third.

What a day at Tokyo Racecourse — twelve races full of story, speed and quality under autumn skies. With the Tenno Sho (Autumn) anchoring the meeting as one of Japan’s premier events, today’s performances will ripple into the weeks ahead.
