The sixth race at Pune (RWITC) on Sunday, 7th September 2025, showcased the prestigious Akkasaheb Maharaj Trophy, a terms race for Indian horses aged four years and above, covering 1200 metres with the highest prize money of the day at Rs.15,00,000. Time and Tide (J: A. Sandesh, T: Nirad Karanjawala) delivered a masterclass of speed and timing, crossing the finish line in 1:08:841 for owner Mr Vikram Bachhawat of Bachhawat Farms Pvt Ltd, adding another memorable triumph to his illustrious career.
From the outset, Time and Tide settled comfortably just off the pace, biding his time as the field jostled for position. Approaching the final 300 metres, A. Sandesh unleashed a perfectly timed surge, slicing through the leaders and asserting dominance down the straight to secure a decisive victory. The horse’s acceleration and composure under pressure made the win look effortless, earning applause from the packed stands.
Magileto (J: Vivek G., T: Aman Altaf Hussain) pressed hard in the home stretch but could only manage second in 1:08:859, narrowly missing out on the winner. Market King (J: N. S. Parmar, T: Imtiaz A. Sait) finished strongly to claim third in 1:09:096, rounding out a tightly contested top three.
With the Akkasaheb Maharaj Trophy concluded, the focus now shifts to the Rotary District 3131 September Handicap at 4:30 PM, promising another exciting test of speed and strategy on Pune’s turf. A. Sandesh capped off a remarkable day by winning four races, including Race 1, Race 4, Race 5, and this sixth race.
