The 3rd race of the MYSORE (MONSOON) RACES 2025, held on Friday, 12 September, saw The Golden Sunrise (J: Abhishek Mhatre, T: Ranjeet Shinde) blaze home in the Police Trophy, a Class III contest for horses rated 40 to 65 over 1200 metres. Sprinting with poise and purpose, the bay mare stopped the clock at 1:10.437, delivering a stylish win for owner Mr Girish Byrappa in front of an appreciative Mysore crowd at 3:30 PM.
Breaking alertly and settling comfortably behind the early leaders, The Golden Sunrise bided his time through the first half of the race before being angled out for his challenge at the top of the straight. Displaying a sharp turn of foot in the final 200 metres, he surged past his rivals with authority, leaving no doubts about his superiority as he crossed the winning post well clear.
Falcon Fury (J: S. Imran, T: J. Ganesh) chased gamely to take second in 1:11.184, while Court Jester (J: Faiz, T: C. D. Monnappa) produced a late bid to claim third in 1:11.217, both finishing on strongly but unable to match the winner’s decisive burst.
With the Police Trophy concluded, all eyes now turn to the day’s feature event — The F.K. Irani Memorial Million – 2025 at 4:00 PM, expected to showcase the best of Mysore’s rising stars in a high-stakes showdown.
