Hong Kong Jockey Club purchased five colts for a combined 1.25 million guineas at the 2026 Tattersalls October Yearling Sale in Newmarket, Great Britain, held from October 6 to 8. The acquisitions from Book 1 featured progeny of established international stallions, including Siyouni, Havana Grey, Harry Angel, Study Of Man and Mehmas, with the highest-priced colt costing 300,000 guineas.
The Tattersalls October Yearling Sale attracted international buyers seeking well-bred young thoroughbreds, and the Hong Kong Jockey Club secured five colts whose pedigrees included established performers in Britain, France, Australia and Hong Kong.
The Club’s most expensive purchase was Lot 425, a bay colt by Siyouni out of Con Te Partiro, acquired for 300,000 guineas, equivalent to approximately HK$3.269 million. His dam was a dual Australian Group 1 winner who also recorded victories in the United States and at Royal Ascot in Britain. Siyouni has already made an impact in Hong Kong through his successful progeny, including eight-time winner Leading Fortune.
Lot 184 was the Club’s second-highest-priced acquisition at 280,000 guineas, approximately HK$3.051 million. The grey colt was by Havana Grey out of Princesse De Saba, a mare by Dariyan. His family included Ivory Moon, a two-year-old sibling who won on debut, while seven-time winner Kaholo Angel stood among Havana Grey’s leading performers in Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Jockey Club also secured Lot 414, a bay colt by Mehmas, for 260,000 guineas, equivalent to approximately HK$2.833 million. Mehmas had already produced successful runners in Hong Kong, including Group 3 winner Taj Dragon. The colt’s dam, Catch A Star, won in France when racing for Godolphin, adding further international form to his pedigree.
Lot 408 changed hands for 250,000 guineas, approximately HK$2.724 million. The bay colt was by Study Of Man, winner of the 2018 Group 1 Prix du Jockey Club, out of Canterbury Bell, a three-time winner. Study Of Man, a son of Japanese champion Deep Impact, carried the influential Sunday Silence line into his pedigree, linking the youngster to an established international bloodline.
The fifth purchase, Lot 362, cost 160,000 guineas, or approximately HK$1.743 million. The bay colt was by Harry Angel out of Anna Of Lorraine, a daughter of Dutch Art. Harry Angel’s Hong Kong representatives included Horsepower, a recent winner at Sha Tin.
The colt’s sibling Diligently had also demonstrated his ability in Britain, winning a lucrative sales-restricted contest at York in which he defeated Arizona Blaze, who subsequently became a Group 1 winner. The family connections provided another notable feature of the Club’s selection.
The five purchases represented a combined investment of 1.25 million guineas, with individual prices ranging from 160,000 to 300,000 guineas. Their pedigrees reflected the Club’s interest in established sire lines and families with proven racing ability across several major thoroughbred jurisdictions.
The acquisitions added five young colts to the Hong Kong Jockey Club’s bloodstock portfolio, with their eventual racing careers set to determine how successfully their pedigree promise translated to the track.
