The Jockey Club of Saudi Arabia (JCSA) is all set to revive the excitement of horse racing this summer, as the highly anticipated Taif season returns to the scenic King Khalid Racecourse. Starting from July 25, 2025, the 10-week festival promises competitive action, premier racing titles, and an overall prize fund of SAR 23 million.
With a total of 20 race meetings scheduled over Fridays and Saturdays, this season will feature 200 contests, showcasing the talents of both Thoroughbreds and Purebred Arabians. Of these, 160 races are reserved for Thoroughbreds, while 40 cater to the Arabian breed. A notable highlight is the inclusion of 31 Championship Cups, adding layers of prestige and excitement.
Among the standout races is the Group 3 King Faisal bin Abdulaziz Cup, sharing the spotlight with the Listed Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal Cup. Both marquee events for Purebred Arabians offer a substantial purse of SAR 1 million each. On the same weekend, Thoroughbred competitors will chase glory in The National Day Cup, valued at SAR 500,000.
The Taif season has been structured to foster inclusivity and engagement. Racegoers can enjoy the thrill of live racing for free through online registration. The venue also provides family-friendly entertainment, hospitality options, and dining facilities, creating a comprehensive experience for visitors of all ages.
This year’s planning reflects a forward-thinking approach focused on technical refinements for various race categories and age divisions. His Royal Highness Prince Abdullah bin Khalid bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz emphasized that this shift aligns with the broader vision of enhancing Saudi racing while ensuring fair competition across horse types and levels.
A key feature of the new structure is the inclusion of owners and trainers in designing the program, fostering deeper collaboration between the JCSA and stakeholders.
