Superstar Breaks Through in Indian Association of Equine Practitioners Trophy at Pune

The maiden ranks took center stage as Superstar lived up to the name with a polished debut win in the Indian Association of Equine Practitioners Trophy, a mile-long test exclusively for three-year-old Indian horses, held as part of Sunday’s feature card at Pune Racecourse.

The 1600-metre terms race was expected to be wide open, but it was Vivek G. who judged the pace perfectly aboard Superstar, guiding the Pesi Shroff trainee to a composed finish in 1:39:724. Backed by the ownership of Mr. Mehernosh H. Deboo and Mrs. Auzita M. Deboo, the horse showed maturity beyond his inexperience, stretching away in the final furlong.

Golden Dancer and Phantasmique in the Frame

In what was a competitive finish for the minors, Golden Dancer, with A. Sandesh up for trainer Dallas Todywalla, stayed on to grab second place in 1:39:736. The horse made a promising forward move but couldn’t reel in the leader.

Phantasmique, ridden by P. Trevor for Imtiaz A. Sait, completed the top-three in 1:40:257, continuing to show signs of potential improvement as the season unfolds.

With Superstar shining in his first outing, anticipation builds ahead of the next clash, The Moosa M. Hoosein Trophy, a contest likely to feature seasoned contenders and tactical duels.
