There was further encouragement for the emerging staying ranks at Warwick Farm Racecourse on Wednesday as progressive mare Superfabulistic produced another polished performance to claim back-to-back metropolitan victories for trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.

The four-year-old daughter of Super Seth and Fabulist arrived off a previous win over the same course and distance and justified strong support with a commanding display, surging clear late to score by nearly two lengths. The homebred mare, raced by Waikato Stud, once again showed the determination and finishing strength that continues to mark her as a mare with significant upside.

Bott said Superfabulistic had continued to improve with racing and hinted that longer distances could unlock even more potential in the months ahead.

“I thought at her last two runs she has been very strong through the line,” Bott said.

“I think in time she will get over a bit further. I think it was her fifth run this campaign and we just want to give her time. She is going to be a lovely mare going forward.”

Superfabulistic already carries a pedigree that commands attention. She is a half-sister to elite-level performer Icebath, the Group I-winning mare who earned more than $5.2 million during a distinguished racing career. While comparisons with Icebath may still be premature, Wednesday’s victory reinforced the feeling that Superfabulistic is steadily building her own profile.

The Warwick Farm race results also highlighted the patience shown by Waikato Stud in managing the mare’s development. Bott praised the operation for allowing the horse time to mature naturally rather than rushing her through the grades.

“Mark Chittick and the team at Waikato Stud are so patient with their horses and happy to give her time,” Bott said.

“I’m delighted to get them a result but I think we can achieve bigger and better things with her going forward.

“Most likely she will go for a break now. She is strengthening all the time and we don’t want to go to the well too many times.”

With three wins and three placings from only seven starts and earnings already beyond $104,000, Superfabulistic continues to enhance an already distinguished family. Her dam Fabulist, herself a five-time winner by Savabeel, has produced an outstanding line of performers including Icebath, Group III winner Courier Wonder, stakes winner Nowyousee and Group III placegetter Just Fabulous.

The day also provided another boost for Super Seth’s growing reputation as a stallion. The sire completed a race-to-race double on the Warwick Farm program when Sanctified, prepared by trainers Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou, captured the Benchmark 72 contest over 1300 metres.

Interest around Super Seth is expected to intensify further ahead of his first Australian breeding season, where he is set to stand at a fee of $137,500.
