The curtain fell on the 8th and final race of the Special Race Day at Pune Meeting 2025 with a pulsating finish in The La Rondine Plate (Class IV – Indian Horses, 4 years old and over, rated 20 to 46) (0 to 19 eligible) over 1400 metres, run on Saturday, 13th September 2025 at 5:40 PM.
Substantial wins The La Rondine Plate in commanding style as Jockey A. Sandesh guided the filly to a fluent victory for trainer Nirad Karanjawala. He stopped the clock at 1:28:043 for the ownership team of Mr Gautam Lala rep. Gainsville Stud & Agl Farm Pvt., Ltd., Mr Kishore P. Rungta, Mr S. R. Sanas, Mr Achuthan Siddharth, Mr Saleem Fazelbhoy, Mr Ajay K. Arora & Miss Ameeta Mehra.
Breaking smartly from the gates, Substantial settled into a handy position behind the early leaders.
He launched a well-timed surge approaching the final bend and began to quicken under a confident ride from Sandesh.
The filly lengthened his stride in the straight and powered past his rivals, asserting dominance in the final 150 metres to seal the win.
Wind Dancer (J: P. Trevor, T: Dallas Todywalla) emerged as the closest challenger, finishing second in 1:28:321 after tracking the pace throughout and staying on gamely without threatening the winner.
Come September (J: C. Umesh, T: Narendra Lagad) closed late to snatch third in 1:28:671, rounding off a tightly contested trifecta.
With Substantial wins The La Rondine Plate in the day’s finale, the Special Race Day action is now wrapped up.
