The Cheltenham Festival began with the iconic “Cheltenham Roar,” setting the stage for intense races on the tracks of Prestbury Park, Cheltenham, England. The first day, March 11, 2025, saw both thrilling victories and unfortunate falls, showcasing true sportsmanship. GOLDEN ACE clinched the title in the Champion Hurdle, with jockey Lorcan Williams and trainer Jeremy Scott leading the charge. Meanwhile, KOPEK DES BORDES claimed victory in the Michael O’Sullivan Supreme Novices’ Hurdle, trained by Willie Mullins and ridden by jockey Paul Townend. As night fell, Cheltenham geared up for another spectacular day—Ladies’ Day.
Ladies’ Day is renowned for blending thrilling horse racing with the glamour of racegoers dressed in their most stylish attire. Seven races are scheduled for the day, with the tracks tested and rated as good to soft. The races are of three types hurdle, chase and bumper which will begin at 1:20 pm and conclude at 5:20 pm. The names of the races are as follows; Turners Novices’ Hurdle, Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase, Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle, BetMGM Queen Mother Champion Chase, Debenhams Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Handicap Chase, and Weatherbys Champion Bumper.
Turners Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 1) 2m 5f will be the first race of the day which will begin at 1:20 pm. Horses for the race are Final Demand, Forty Coats, Kaid d’Authie, Kappa Jy Pyke, Kel Histoire, Kiss Will, Potters Charm, Sixmilebridge, Supersundae, The New Lion and The Yellow Clay.
Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase (Grade 1) 3m 110y will begin with 2:00 pm and horses who will run in this race are Ballyburn, Better Days Ahead, Dancing City, Gorgeous Tom, Lecky Watson, Quai de Bourbon and Stellar Story.
Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle (Premier Handicap) 2m 5f will commence at 2:40 pm. Some of the horses set to compete are Maxxum, Ballyadam, Eagle Fang, Sandor Clegane, Colonel Mustard, Jimmy du Seuil, Sa Fureur, Beacon Edge, Al Gasparo and Staffordshire Knot.
At 3:20pm Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle (A Limited Handicap) 3m 5f 56y will start. A short list of competing horses is as follows; Stumptown, Galvin, Coko Beach, Iwilldoit, French Dynamite, Vanillier, Minella Crooner, Roi Mage, Latenightpass and Chemical Energy.
BetMGM Queen Mother Champion Chase (Grade 1) 1m 7f 199y at 4:00 pm. The competing horses are Captain Guinness, Energumene, Found A Fifty, Jonbon, Libberty Hunter, Marine Nationale, Quilixios and Solness.
Debenhams Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Handicap Chase (Premier Handicap) 1m 7f 199y at 4:40 pm. Some of the horses are JPR One, Dancing On My Own, My Mate Mozzie, American Mike, General Medrano, Fringill Dike and So Scottish.
The last race of the day Weatherbys Champion Bumper (Grade 1) 2m 87y will start at 5:20 pm. Some of the horses are Copacabana, Dalston Lad, El Cairos, Fortune de Mer, Gameofinches, Heads Up, He Can’t Dance, Idaho Sun, I Started A Joke and Kalypso’chance.
