Stravinsky claims the Kolkata Cup in commanding fashion at Bangalore Turf Club

Stravinsky surges ahead under jockey Angad to win the Kolkata Cup on Bangalore Summer Meeting Day 17 at Bangalore Turf Club, finishing the 1400-meter contest in 1:27.01.

The action continued at the Bangalore Summer Meeting (Day 17) as Stravinsky powered home to take top honours in the Kolkata Cup, the day’s second race. This 1400-meter handicap for horses rated 40 to 65, aged five years and above, carried a prize purse of Rs. 6,30,000 and was run at 2:00 PM over good going.

Stravinsky, ridden by Angad and trained by Narayana Gowda V., timed the run to perfection to stop the clock at 1:27.01, holding off a strong challenge in the closing stages. The win marked a solid performance for the camp represented by owner Anil K. Joseph, and maintained the early competitive tempo of the day’s racing.

Close behind in second was Aquamatic, handled by Akshay Kumar for trainer Azhar Ali, who delivered a steady finish in 1:27.08. The trainer recorded a second win just after the completion of the first race where his horse came first. Blue God rounded off the frame, guided by Antony Raj S. and trained by Arjun Mangalorkar, completing the race in 1:28.55.
