The Royal Calcutta Turf Club (RCTC) is set to host an action-packed horse racing event on Friday, March 21st . The six race schedule of RCTC will kick off with The Sabre Dance Handicap, followed by The Young Lady Handicap, The Aada Rossa Handicap, The Wind Song Handicap and conclude with The Twilight Lady Handicap.
The Little Lady Plate, 1,600-meter maiden race for three-year-old horses which offers a total prize purse of Rs. 10,00,000 is the feature race of the day. Racing fans will recall that in 2018, the talented WHOMAKESTHERULES set a track record time of 1:34.800 in this very event. Scheduled for 5:00 PM, the race has drawn a competitive field of six horses. GARTH, trained by Aashay Doctor and ridden by Yash Narredu, will represent M/s Sarainaga Racing Pvt Ltd. KSEPIMAN, trained by Rutherford Alford, will have Imran Chisty in the saddle for owners M/s Cherie Sports Pvt Ltd and Mr. Sumit Mazumder. SHELLACKING, trained and owned by B Mahesh, will be guided by jockey P Trevor. GLOBAL FASHION, trained by Aashay Doctor and owned by Mr. Joydeep Paul representing M/s Abhyagama Hospitality LLP, will be ridden by Neeraj Rawal. PRINCESS PEACH, another entry from trainer B Mahesh, will be partnered by jockey Arul JH, while SIMRAN’S STAR, trained and owned by Dr. Anil Kumar, will have A Ashhad Asbar in the irons.
The race day though will commence at 3:00 PM with The Sabre Dance Handicap, a 1,100-meter race offering a total prize of Rs. 3,00,000. The field includes 12 runners, among them CRISTALDO, JEAN LAFETTE, TENDER HEART, KINDRED SPIRIT, and MY WAY OR HIGHWAY. At 3:30 PM, The Young Lady Handicap (3:30 PM), run over 1,200 meters, will offer a prize purse of Rs. 4,00,000. Eight horses will contest this race, including notable contenders MARCOLINI, TRES BIEN, N R I FANTASY, CHILILADY, and SKY HAWK.
The Aada Rossa Handicap (4:00 PM), another 1,200-meter contest, will feature 13 runners vying for a total prize of Rs. 5,00,000. Some of the key names in the lineup include ALL TIME LEGEND, SALOME, MATHANGI, and STAR CONCEPT. This race has a rich history, with ROMANTIC FIRE setting a track record of 1:09.65 in 2005. Following this, The Wind Song Handicap (4:30 PM) will be run over 1,400 meters, offering a total prize of Rs. 4,00,000. A field of 11 horses will compete, including SABAR, DON’TSTOPTHEMUSIC, CLAP YOUR HANDS, BANDUK WALI, and OISHIKA. SIEGE COURAGEOUS registered a time of 1:22.521 in this race last year.
Bringing the day’s action to a close, The Twilight Lady Handicap (5:30 PM) over 1,600 meters will see six runners competing for victory. Among them are REDOUBTABLE, SATIVUR, DRAGON’S GOLD, NORWEGIAN WOOD, SENSATIONAL, and AEROPOLI. With a mix of promising young contenders and seasoned campaigners, the six-race card at the Royal Calcutta Turf Club promises to deliver an exciting day of racing action for enthusiasts and bettors alike.
