Within a week of hosting the successful Indian Turf Invitation Cup, the Madras Race Club (MRC) organized another day of racing on March 8, 2025. Seven races were held at the Guindy Racecourse, including The Kahyasi Handicap, The Harzand Handicap, The Daylami Plate, The Zarkava Handicap, The Sinndar Handicap, The Shahrastani Handicap (Division 1), and the final event of the day, The Shahrastani Handicap (Division 2).
The Daylami Plate featured three-year-old horses competing over a 1,200-meter track, with total prize money of Rs. 12,24,000. SIMOLA, ridden by C Umesh and trained by James McKeown, completed the race in 1:14.383 and secured victory at 15/4 odds, earning a winning prize of Rs. 6,60,000. ELSA, guided by CA Brisson and trained by B Suresh, finished second, while ALBANNY, ridden by Inayat and trained by J Sebastian, claimed third. RACING LEGEND, piloted by A S Peter and trained by N Rupa, finished fourth, followed by PRESENT SIR, ridden by M S Deora and trained by R Ramanathan. The tote favorite for the race was DIVINE RIGHT.
The day began with The Kahyasi Handicap, a no-whip race for horses rated 00-25 over a distance of 1,100 meters. MADUVA THALAIVI, a six-year-old, claimed victory, stopping the clock at 1:01.534 and earning a prize of Rs. 2,75,000. Jitendra Singh rode the winner, trained by V Ajith Kumar. BLACK LABEL, ridden by C Umesh and trained by Fahad Khan, finished a close second in 1:07.678. SEA WATERS, under jockey Darshan N and trainer N Rupa, secured third place. MARQUITA, also trained by Fahad Khan and ridden by Ram Nandan Manjhi, finished fourth, while YOUNG HEART took fifth place under jockey P Vikram and trainer Saddam Iqbal. AIR MARSHALL, scheduled to run under jockey Dharshan Antony and trainer V Ajith Kumar, was withdrawn.
Eleven horses competed in The Harzand Handicap, a 1,200-meter race for horses rated 20-45, offering total prize money of Rs. 6,12,000. ASTA, guided by Jitendra Singh and trained by Suresh, clinched victory in 1:15.966, earning Rs. 3,30,000. OUR ASSET, ridden by Darshan N and trained by Saddam Iqbal, finished second. Tote favorite SUPER STRIDE, with Sah Farid Ansari in the saddle and Fahad Khan as trainer, claimed third place. ROYAL EXEMPLAR, under P Vikram and trainer R Foley, finished fourth, while DAKSHIN VIJAY, ridden by Shreyas Singh and trained by P Krishna, rounded out the top five.
The Zarkava Handicap, a 1,600-meter contest for horses rated 40-65, offered total prize money of Rs. 7,14,000. VISHWAS, ridden by Hindu Singh and trained by J Sebastian, secured first place in 1:39.392 at 13/4 odds, taking home Rs. 3,85,000. GOLDEN LEGEND, guided by C Umesh and trained by Suraj Prasad Shaw, finished second. DRAMATIC, with MS Deora aboard and trained by Vijay Singh, claimed third. ILLUSTRIOUS RULER, ridden by Sah Farid Ansari and trained by R Foley, finished fourth, followed by GIANT KING, guided by A S Peter and trained by Deepesh Narredu.
The Sinndar Handicap, a 1,200-meter race for horses rated 60-85, featured total prize money of Rs. 8,16,000. CONSTANT VARIABLE emerged victorious, earning Rs. 4,40,000 under jockey C Umesh and trainer Fahad Khan, completing the race in 1:11.551. PROPOSED, ridden by Sah Farid Ansari and trained by R Ramanathan, finished second in a closely contested race. ASPIRA, under Yash Narredu and trainer Deepesh Narredu, secured third place. LADY WONDER, trained by B Suresh and ridden by Ram Nandan Manjhi, finished fourth, while MULTICROWN, also trained by B Suresh and ridden by Hindu Singh, took fifth place. RUBIROSA was withdrawn, and WIND SYMBOL failed to finish the race.
The Shahrastani Handicap – Division I, a 1,400-meter race for horses rated 20-45, had total prize money of Rs. 6,12,000. BOMBER JET, a five-year-old bay gelding, secured victory in 1:26.734 at 5/2 odds, earning Rs. 3,30,000. It was ridden by Shreyas Singh and trained by P Krishna. LARADO, guided by Hindu Singh and trained by J Sebastian, finished second. SUNCHE DREAMS, under jockey C Umesh and trainer Fahad Khan, claimed third place. KALLANIA, ridden by Darshan N and trained by K S Mandanna, finished fourth, while SANTAMARINA STAR, with Sah Farid Ansari in the saddle and trained by R Ramanathan, completed the top five. The tote favorite was GREELEY.
The final race of the day, The Shahrastani Handicap – Division II, also a 1,400-meter contest for horses rated 20-45, carried total prize money of Rs. 6,12,000. WAR EMBLEM outpaced its rivals to take first place, stopping the clock at 1:27.071 at 13/4 odds. The winner, trained by Fahad Khan and ridden by M S Deora, earned Rs. 3,30,000. AURORA BOREALIS, guided by Sah Farid Ansari and trained by R Foley, finished second. ARIKATTU, with Dharshan Antony in the saddle and trained by K S Mandanna, claimed third. WOOD ART, ridden by Jitendra Singh and trained by M M Uthaiah, finished fourth, while EMPIRE OF DREAMS, trained by Suraj Prasad Shaw and ridden by C Umesh, took fifth. EMPIRE OF DREAMS was also the tote favorite.
