Hyderabad’s Monsoon Races 2025 continued on Monday, October 13th, with the 2nd race of the day, The Nawab Mehdi Jung Bahadur Memorial Cup Div II, a Class III handicap for horses aged five years and above rated 40 to 65, contested over 1,100 meters at 01:55 PM. Shadow Fax (J: Mukesh Kumar, T: D Netto), racing in the colours of Ms G Krishnamohan Rao, T Nataraja Mehta, and Mirza Ayub Baig, delivered a commanding performance to claim victory in a time of 1:14.99, showcasing both speed and composure in a competitive field.
From the break, Shadow Fax settled just off the early leaders, biding his time as the pace quickened. With a decisive turn into the straight, Mukesh Kumar guided the winner to the front with an assertive burst, leaving challengers chasing. The gelding’s well-timed acceleration and balanced stride proved too strong, allowing Shadow Fax to cross the finish line with authority and minimal pressure.
Challenger (J: MD Ekram Alam, T: K Satheesh) finished strongly to take second, while Sweet Dancer (J: P Ajeeth Kumar, T: Ananta Vatsalya) closed from mid-field to secure third, rounding out a tightly contested top three.
Attention now turns to the Nizamabad Plate Div II, set for 02:30 PM, a race anticipated to showcase stamina and tactical prowess in the afternoon’s feature contest.
