By the time Tuesday afternoon unfolds at Sedgefield, the County Durham track will host a compact but competitive National Hunt programme. The Sedgefield racecards 10 March feature six races scheduled from 1:38pm to 4:55pm, bringing together hurdles, steeplechases and a concluding mares’ National Hunt Flat contest. With races ranging from Class 4 to Class 5 and a variety of distances on offer, the meeting promises an engaging afternoon of jumps racing for connections and racing enthusiasts.

The card begins at 1:38pm with the Fairlight Studios Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle Race, a Class 5 contest over 2m 154y with nine runners competing for £6,150 in prize money. Conditional riders will have the opportunity to showcase their talent in what should be a competitive opening event around the tight Sedgefield circuit.

At 2:18pm, the Mowden Park RFC Novices’ Handicap Hurdle Race follows as another Class 5 hurdle but over a longer distance of 2m 3f 160y. Seven runners are declared for the contest, again worth £6,150, and the race should place a strong emphasis on stamina as developing hurdlers look to progress through the handicap ranks.

At 2:58pm, the Heritage Drives The Goings Always Good Maiden Hurdle Race takes place as a Class 4 contest over 2m 154y with prize money of £10,000. Seven runners line up for the race, including Fearless Dragon, a five-year-old gelding ridden by Joe Williamson and trained by Patrick Neville for owners N Jolley, J Barnard and C Kennedy. Also in the field is Laristote, a French-bred five-year-old partnered by Brian Hughes and trained by Donald McCain for Mr WF Ainscough, while Las Canals, another French-bred five-year-old, will be ridden by Craig Nichol for the training partnership of Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero representing The Nevers Racing Partnership.

Completing the line-up are Liberty Coach, a five-year-old gelding with a BHA rating of 112 trained by John and Sean Quinn and ridden by Conor O’Farrell for owner Mrs S. Quinn, alongside Matching Energy, a five-year-old trained by Daragh Bourke and partnered by Sean Quinlan for owner Scott Lowther. Rebel Tribesman, a five-year-old gelding ridden by Gavin Sheehan and trained by Jamie Snowden for the OldGoldRacing and WalkingWithTheWounded partnership, also takes his place in the field, while The Den Master, another five-year-old gelding trained by Tom Ellis and ridden by Jack Andrews for owners James and Jean Potter Ltd, completes the seven-runner contest.

Chasing takes centre stage at 3:38pm in the Encore Educational For Early Years Supplies Handicap Steeple Chase. This Class 4 staying contest covers 3m 2f 119y and offers £8,900 in prize money. Six runners will tackle the demanding trip, where endurance and accurate jumping will be essential over the extended distance.

The penultimate race arrives at 4:18pm with the MW Civils & Groundworks Handicap Steeple Chase, a Class 5 chase over 2m 113y for £6,150. With five runners declared, the smaller field could lead to a tactical race where positioning and rhythm over the fences become decisive factors.

The meeting concludes at 4:55pm with the Paxtons No1 CaseIH Dealer Mares’ Open National Hunt Flat Race. This Class 5 bumper over 2m 154y carries a purse of £4,500 and features four runners, providing a stage for promising mares at the start of their racing careers.

As the final race draws the curtain on the afternoon, the Sedgefield racecards 10 March present a balanced programme of hurdles, chases and a bumper finale, delivering another competitive chapter of midweek National Hunt racing at the Durham venue.
