In the Sign Lead Your Horse To Water Handicap Steeple Chase (Class 4) (GBB Race), STRATAGEM produced one of the most dominant efforts on the card. Ridden by Shane Fenelon and trained by Mickey Bowen for owner Mr Mickey Bowen, the runner drew well clear of the field to record a decisive 20-length victory over Realisation, with Ailt An Chorrain completing the top three at a distance.
The Jayne And Greg Complete All The Racecourses Handicap Steeple Chase (Class 5) saw CLEAN GETAWAY continue consistent form with a controlled success. Joe Williamson partnered the Philip Kirby-trained runner, owned by Mr P Kirby & Grant Harrison, to a 1¾-length victory over Natural Ability, while Elusive Warrior stayed on to secure third place.
A maiden hurdle contest followed, where BRIGHT LEGEND opened his account in the Fairlight Studios Maiden Hurdle Race (Class 4) (GBB Race). Under Richie McLernon, the Faye Bramley-trained runner, representing The Cheeky Pups, showed steady progression through the race before pulling clear to win by 4¾ lengths from Who’s Glen, with Hay Max finishing third.
In the MW Civils & Groundworks Handicap Hurdle Race (Class 5), COSMIC SOUL delivered a solid and well-paced performance to secure victory. William Maggs rode the Patrick Neville-trained runner, owned by M Lee, D Lee, C Jolley & Neville, to a 3¼-length success over Knacker Trapper, while Byron Hill took third after keeping on late.
The meeting concluded with the Paul Richardson Visiting Sedgefield Today Open National Hunt Flat Race (Class 5), where CONNELLS CROSS edged a competitive finish. Sean Quinlan guided the Jennie Candlish-trained runner, owned by Ms Jennie Candlish, to a narrow half-length victory over The Gem State, while Mords Lavie Spigao finished close behind in third, completing the frame in a tightly contested finale.
