The fifth race of the MYSORE (MONSOON) RACES 2025 on Friday, 17th October 2025, The Governor’s Cup, a term race for Indian horses aged four years and above over 2000 metres, witnessed a commanding performance from Sea The Sun. Ridden by K. Sai Kiran for trainer Joseph B Awale and owned by Mr Raj Ramprasad Singh, Sea The Sun crossed the finish line in 2:07.160, showcasing both stamina and a powerful finishing kick.
From the outset, Sea The Sun tracked the leaders patiently before producing a decisive burst of acceleration in the home stretch, taking control with a seamless blend of timing and tactical acumen. The horse’s composure under pressure ensured a smooth passage to the line, leaving spectators in awe of the performance.
Magnetic (J: P. Trevor, T: Darius Byramji) finished strongly to secure second place in 2:07.863, keeping the winner within striking distance for much of the final furlong. Freedom Touch (J: A. Ashhad Asbar, T: Arvind V) closed late to take third in 2:08.406, rounding off a tightly contested top three.
With The Governor’s Cup concluded, anticipation now builds for the A.R. Subramanya Raj Urs Memorial Trophy at 04:30 PM, promising another thrilling contest at Mysore Racecourse.
