The 7th race of the Bangalore Winter Meeting 2025, the Dudhsagar Falls Plate, delivered a thrilling sprint spectacle on Saturday, November 1st, at 5:00 PM. A Class IV contest for horses rated 20 to 45, run over 1200 metres, saw Sapporo (Jockey: Pavan) produce a sharp turn of foot to seize victory for trainer Irfan Ghatala, stopping the clock at 1:13.18. Racing in the silks of M/s Rapar Galloping Stars LLP, Sapporo showcased blistering pace and composure to claim the top honours.
Breaking cleanly from the gates, Sapporo was quickly into stride and positioned prominently behind the early leaders through the first 400 metres. Jockey Pavan timed his move to perfection, shifting gears at the bend before surging to the front in the final furlong. Despite pressure from the chasing pack, the Ghatala-trained gelding held firm in the closing stages, displaying both resilience and class to register a well-earned win.
Amalure (Jockey: K. Sai Kiran, Trainer: Darius R. Byramji) put in a valiant late effort to finish second in 1:13.27, falling narrowly short of catching the winner. Magestic Persona (Jockey: A. Ramu, Trainer: V. Lokanath) followed in 1:13.51, maintaining a consistent gallop to secure third and complete the frame.
With the curtain closing on an action-packed opening day at the Bangalore Winter Meeting, racing fans now look ahead to Sunday’s card — promising more competitive fields, exciting finishes, and rising contenders at the Bangalore Turf Club.
