Nestled in the Wiltshire countryside, Salisbury Racecourse will host a competitive six-race evening flat programme on Tuesday, 21 July, bringing together amateur jockeys, progressive novices and experienced handicappers. The meeting will be staged over distances ranging from 5 furlongs to 1m 6f 44y, with total prize funds between £7,500 and £15,000 available across the card. The varied schedule will provide opportunities for developing horses as well as established performers in a balanced evening of British flat racing.
Proceedings will begin at 6:21pm with The Highclere Castle Horse Feeds ‘Carnarvon’ Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap Stakes (Class 6). The opening contest will be run over 6f 213y for a prize fund of £7,500 and is expected to attract a field of 10 runners. Among those set to take part are Margorie, Call Glory, Shades of May, Amathus, Beau Jardine, Happier and Endowed, with the amateur riders opening the evening’s programme.
The action will continue at 6:51pm with The Kinross British EBF Novice Stakes (Class 4) over 6 furlongs. Carrying £11,000 in prize money, the race will feature six lightly raced horses looking to gain further experience. Soldier Of The Sea, Bollengo Boy, Gentle Hurricane, Hackpen Hill, High Tower and Yellow Mission are all expected to line up in what will be one of the meeting’s key contests for emerging talent.
Attention will then switch to The Seamus Mullins Racing / Roger Jowett Memorial British EBF Fillies’ Novice Stakes (Class 4) (GBB Race) at 7:21pm. Also run over 6 furlongs, the race will offer £11,000 and will bring together a field of seven fillies. Blue Flight, Downonmainstreet, Golden Caturra, Happy Enough, Lola De Valence, Silver Sovereign and Topaz will all seek to continue their progression in another informative novice event.
The feature race of the evening will arrive at 7:51pm with The Highclere Castle Gin Handicap Stakes (Class 3). Run over 1 mile for £15,000, the contest will feature a select field of four comprising Celeborn, Blue Prince, Arctic Thunder and Allegresse. Despite the smaller field size, the race will provide the highest-class action on the programme.
Sprint performers will then return to the track at 8:21pm in The Highclere Castle “The Perfect Gin” Handicap Stakes (Class 6). The 5-furlong contest will be worth £7,500 and is expected to include Dottie Diamond, Reporter, Little Miss Magic, Dreambird Dolly, Cabeza De Llave, Mademoiselle Belle and Roman Spring among the nine declared runners, ensuring another competitive contest during the latter stages of the meeting.
The evening will conclude at 8:51pm with The Nationwide Concreting Handicap Stakes (Class 5) over 1m 6f 44y. Competing for £8,750, Curran, Fair Dinkum, Mountbatten, Masterdream and Blue Siam will take on the staying test that brings Salisbury’s Tuesday programme to a close.
