The Calcutta Monsoon Meeting reached another high point with Race 6 — The Dysnomia Handicap Div I, a 1200-metre Class IV contest for horses rated 21–46 (1–26 eligible). Sabar, guided by ace jockey P. Trevor and trained by Aashay Doctor, put on a commanding display to cross the finish line in 1:13.703 for owners Mrs Rina Mahindra & Mr Marthand Singh Mahindra at 4:15 PM.
Sabar broke sharply from the gates and settled comfortably off the early pace. With Trevor’s precise handling, the gelding conserved energy before unleashing a powerful surge down the final furlong. Pulling clear inside the last 100 metres, Sabar demonstrated both speed and composure, delivering a convincing and memorable victory for the Mahindra silks.
Oishika (J: R. S. Bhati, T: Shyam S. Habbu) pressed hard for second, finishing in 1:14.177, while Victorious Omen (J: Mukesh Kumar, T: S. Waheed) closed late to claim third in 1:14.625. The top three were well ahead of the rest, reflecting the fast pace set early in the race.
With the celebrations for Sabar’s triumph still resonating, focus now shifts to The Dysnomia Handicap Div II at 4:45 PM, promising an exciting finale to the day’s action at the Monsoon Meeting.
