Royal Showdown at Ascot: Top Fillies, Colts & Champions Set to Clash on day 2

The Royal Ascot is set for an action-packed race day on June 18, 2025, with seven high-stakes races on the card. After an exciting start to the festival, the second day promises more adrenaline-fueled finishes and elite competition.

The day begins at 2:30 pm with the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes, a five-furlong sprint for two-year-old fillies, offering £150,000 in prize money. The 25 contenders include AMERICA, CAITLIN G, CARDIFF BY THE SEA, COME ON EIBHLIN, ESKIMO PIE, ETERNAL SOLACE, FLOWERHEAD, GUERNSEY LADY, HARRY’S GIRL, and others.

Next at 3:05 pm, the Group 2 Queen’s Vase unfolds over one mile and six furlongs for three-year-olds, with a £265,000 purse. Top entries include AL WASL STORM, ASMARANI, CARMERSB, DEVIL’S ADVOCATE, FURTHUR, and more.

The third race, The Duke of Cambridge Stakes, a Group 2 contest for four-year-old and older fillies and mares, is scheduled for 3:40 pm on the round (old) mile track with £225,000 up for grabs. Leading contenders include CINDERELLA’S DREAM, CRIMSON ADVOCATE, ELMALKA, FALLEN ANGEL, and RUNNING LION.

At 4:20 pm, the prestigious Group 1 Prince of Wales’s Stakes for horses aged four and above will be run over 1 mile and 2 furlongs, boasting a massive £1,057,500 purse. Notable names in the line-up include CONTINUOUS, ANMAAT, FACTEUR CHEVAL, and LOS ANGELES.

The fifth race is the Royal Hunt Cup, a Class 2 Heritage Handicap for three-year-olds and up, contested on a straight mile at 5:00 pm for £175,000. A 30-runner field features names such as ARABIAN LIGHT, HI ROYAL, JEFF KOONS, ANCIENT ROME, GALERON, and FOX LEGACY.

The penultimate race, The Kensington Palace Stakes, goes off at 5:35 pm. It’s a Class 2 handicap for fillies and mares aged 4+, run over a straight mile for £110,000. Among the 24 contenders are RAINBOWS EDGE, SNELLEN, AMBIENTE AMIGO, JULIA AUGUSTA, and QUEEN OF ATLANTIS.

Capping off the day at 6:10 pm is The Windsor Castle Stakes, a Listed five-furlong dash for two-year-olds, also worth £110,000. Exciting prospects in this race include ARDISIA, BEACH PARTEE, DICKENSIAN, GAGA MATE, SHAMAN CHAMPION, and WYLE COP.
