Get It delivered another memorable day for his connections by storming to victory in the prestigious Wokingham Stakes at Royal Ascot, showcasing his trademark front-running style. Already known for his Stewards’ Cup heroics last season, the seven-year-old gelding proved that age is just a number as he displayed his enduring class over the six-furlong trip.

Guided expertly by jockey Seamie Heffernan, Get It was quick out of the gates and wasted no time asserting himself at the head of the field. Despite a determined late charge from the 3/1 favourite More Thunder, Get It held on gamely to seal victory by a head, much to the delight of trainer George Baker and the ownership team. Ten Pounds stayed on strongly from a low draw to finish third, while Holkham Bay grabbed fourth after making ground up the stands’ side.

For Baker, it was another standout moment in what has been a remarkable journey with Get It, who was purchased from a horses-in-training sale just a few years ago. Since then, the horse has racked up notable victories, including wins in the Racing League, Bahrain, the Stewards’ Cup, and now the Wokingham — a rare double few horses achieve.

Baker credited the ride to Heffernan, who had previously worked with Get It in Bahrain, ensuring a smooth transition with regular rider Pat Cosgrave unavailable due to suspension. Heffernan’s calm approach allowed Get It to dictate the pace, conserve energy, and dig deep when it mattered most. The jockey was full of praise for the horse’s enthusiasm and resilience, particularly impressive for a horse in the latter stages of his career.

The victory also marked an important milestone for Baker following his recent move to Epsom. With the training centre showing promise under his guidance, Baker hopes their success can inspire further recognition of Epsom as a premier location for racing operations.

For the beaten favourite More Thunder, trainer William Haggas expressed satisfaction with the run but couldn’t hide his frustration at narrowly missing out on the prize. Meanwhile, Ten Pounds, who was stepping back down to six furlongs, produced an encouraging performance for Harry Charlton. His stablemate Completely Random also caught the eye, finishing strongly from the rear, suggesting more success could lie ahead, potentially in the Stewards’ Cup later this season.

Royal Ascot continues to deliver stories of persistence, teamwork, and class — and for Get It, his legacy as a crowd favourite and reliable performer is firmly cemented.
