The penultimate race of Day 9 at the Bangalore Turf Club — The Meydan Plate — delivered yet another thrilling chapter in Saturday’s summer meeting. Run over 1200 meters and open to horses rated 80 and above, the race featured a fiercely competitive lineup and a close finish that had the crowd on edge.
Ricardo, trained by Arjun Mangalorkar and ridden by top jockey P. Trevor, produced a strong late surge to clinch the win in a perfectly timed finish stopping the clock at 1:16.84. The combination held off the chasing pack in a tightly run final furlong, sealing victory and a handsome winner’s purse of ₹5,50,000.
Just behind in second came Imperial Blue, who ran a spirited race under Pavan for trainer Irfan Ghatala, clocking 1:16.88. The duo couldn’t quite make up the final ground in the sprint to the line, narrowly missing out on the win. Their efforts earned them ₹2,75,000.
Uchchaihshravas, piloted by Neeraj Rawal and trained by Neelesh N Rawal, rounded out the top three by stopping the clock at 1:17.39. The horse ran a game race to finish in the money, claiming ₹1,65,000 for connections after staying competitive through the run-in.
As the sun dipped over the Bangalore track, Ricardo’s determined win capped off a day of tight margins and bold rides. All eyes now turn to the closing contest of the card — The Royal Command Plate — as Day 9 builds toward a high-stakes conclusion.
