Day 9 of the Bangalore Summer Meeting commenced on June 14, 2025, at the Bangalore Turf Club (BTC) with a dramatic finish to the day’s opening race — The Kranji Plate. The 2000-meter handicap event for horses rated 20 to 45 provided an exhilarating start to the card, as Refreshment, trained by Prasanna Kumar and ridden with precision by Vivek G, stormed home to claim a narrow victory in a thrilling photo-finish by clocking at 2:07.96.
It was a tactically run race, with Refreshment positioned mid-pack before accelerating through the final stages to edge ahead in the last strides. The connections walked away with a winner’s purse of ₹2,54,995, marking a fine start to their campaign on the day.
Amazing Stride, trained by S. Padmanabhan and piloted by Neeraj Rawal, mounted a late challenge and appeared to momentarily seize control but couldn’t fend off the final burst from the winner as it timed at 2:08.53. Nevertheless, the runner-up effort earned them ₹1,27,495 and reflected the horse’s staying power and consistency.
Rounding off the top three was Gold Empire in 2:08.72, trained by Rajesh Narredu and guided by Suraj Narredu, who maintained a steady pace to stay in contention throughout and was rewarded with a third-place prize of ₹76,495.
With The Kranji Plate setting a high bar for the afternoon, all eyes now shift to the next contest — The Sir Cecil Plate — as the Bangalore Summer Meeting continues to build momentum.
