London & The South tighten grip after Racing League Windsor
London & The South delivered a commanding performance at Windsor, dealing a potentially decisive blow to their Racing League Windsor rivals as the competition entered its second half.
Under the management of Matt Chapman, the team started the night in second place, trailing The East by 16 points. By the end of the evening, they held a commanding 95-point lead with an overall score of 581, thanks to a series of standout performances and consistent placings across the card.
The highlight came with two impressive victories — Kodi Fire, trained by Charlie Hills, completed a three-timer in Race 24, while Siempre Arturo, from the Daniel & Claire Kubler yard, led a remarkable one-two finish for the team in Race 27.
London & The South’s runners featured prominently all night, with eight other top-five finishes contributing to a record-breaking 202 points haul, surpassing their previous best of 193 at Windsor last year.
Chapman praises team effort despite personal twist
Chapman was quick to praise his team’s performance:
“It has been a great night, although Siempre Arturo’s race was a bit of a catastrophe on a personal level because I took Richard Kingscote off the winner and put him on the runner-up Lieber Power. In my defence, Lieber Power would not have run without him, so it’s swings and roundabouts. We’re going all right and still have a joker to play.”
He also credited new additions Chris Dwyer and George Scott for their contributions, noting the friendly rivalry between Scott and The East’s Charlie Fellowes.
The East keep pressure on with record-breaker
The East kept the gap from widening into triple digits thanks to wins in Race 21 and Race 28. Rocking Ends, trained by Tom Clover, set a new five-furlong course record in the opener, while Auld Toon Loon secured a thrilling last-gasp victory in the finale.
Clover praised Rocking Ends’ form on fast ground, highlighting regular rider Carrie Browning’s role in keeping the horse in top condition.
Scotland and Yorkshire make gains
Scotland climbed into third place with 446 points, spearheaded by Zapphire’s win in Race 26 for Julie Camacho. Team manager Alex Steedman hailed jockey Kevin Stott’s patient ride in a tightly run race.
Yorkshire also enjoyed success, with Brosay taking Race 25 for Paul Attwater and Joanna Mason. Manager Leonna Mayor praised Mason’s tactical execution and noted how Racing League opportunities have expanded her riding portfolio.
Wales & The West celebrate Osborne’s first win of the season
Wales & The West’s star jockey Saffie Osborne, a three-time top jockey in the competition, claimed her first 2025 Racing League win aboard Ian Williams-trained Whathappensinvegas in Race 23. Osborne emphasised the importance of settling the horse early, crediting Williams for improving his temperament since last year.
Jockey standings heat up
Richard Kingscote leads the jockey standings with 274 points from 23 rides for London & The South. Daniel Muscutt (The East) sits second with 172 points, followed by David Allan (Yorkshire) on 159, both with 17 rides.
