Racing League Windsor 2025: London & The South Eye Top Spot in Standings

The Racing League Windsor 2025 is set to deliver another thrilling chapter in this year’s competition, with teams vying for valuable points under the Thursday (August 14th) night lights. The unique team-based racing format has been captivating UK racing fans since its inception, and Windsor’s flat track has proven to be a decisive battleground in past editions.

London & The South Poised for Windsor Charge

Matt Chapman’s side enjoyed a stellar night at Windsor in 2024, racking up 193 points — the third-highest single-week total in Racing League history. This season, they sit second on 379 points and, along with The North, remain one of only two teams holding two unused jokers.

“All in all, we are in a good position,” said Chapman. “We’ve always been underdogs and are happy to chase. Charlie Fellowes has been joking that he’s already got it in the bag, but we’ll give him a run for his money. Interestingly, The East seems to do best when Charlie’s away on holiday, so maybe his return won’t help them.”

Chapman is particularly optimistic about apprentice rider Jack Dace, who boasts a perfect record for the team after winning his only ride at Yarmouth. Dace has four mounts at Windsor — a chance to showcase his talent under the spotlight.

Strong Contenders Across the Card

Chapman’s key runners include Andaleep and Londoner for Daniel & Claire Kubler in Race 28, both of whom were unlucky at Wolverhampton last time. In Race 27, Andrew Balding’s Lieber Power returns after a strong Chepstow run and a previous Windsor second-place finish off a similar mark.

Another notable contender is Jimmy Speaking in Race 26, just 2lb higher than his Yarmouth win. Meanwhile, George Scott saddles Love Is The Law in Race 24, one of seven rides for jockey Richard Kingscote, who could secure the leading jockey title before heading to Hong Kong.

The East Fighting to Hold On

The East, led by Charlie Fellowes, kept their lead after a maximum 40-point score in Chepstow’s finale, where Crowd Quake beat Salamanca City. Fellowes admits his side has been “patching up a boat with a few holes” but remains competitive.

“This week will be tough,” he said. “We’ve brought in Tom Dascombe and Rod Millman. Rod’s Just An Hour in Race 23 could go well. Stuart Williams has been a huge supporter, with strong runners like Radical Design (Race 24) and King Of Light (Race 25). Mr Swivell, an emphatic Wolverhampton winner, also steps up in trip for Race 28.”

Scotland Looking to Bounce Back

Scotland, who started the season well, slipped at Chepstow with the lowest team total of the night — just 69 points — but remain fourth overall with 328 points. Team manager Alex Steedman believes they have “punched above their weight” so far.

Key hopes include Jim Goldie’s Woohoo (Race 22) and Montezuma (Race 25), though draw positions could be more favourable. Eazy On The Eye (Race 24) also looks promising after a strong York performance, while Ammes (Race 27) is expected to be competitive based on his Goodwood run.

With Windsor expected to draw a strong crowd and competitive fields, the pressure is mounting on all teams to seize their moment before the final legs at Newcastle and Southwell.
