World Pool, the world’s largest commingled horse racing pools powered by the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC), has appointed four-time LONGINES World’s Best Jockey Ryan Moore as its ambassador for the 2025 racing season. The HKJC expressed its excitement over this collaboration, emphasizing Moore’s role in promoting World Pool’s global fixtures.
Moore, regarded as one of the finest jockeys in the world, brings a wealth of experience to the role. As the stable rider for Aidan O’Brien, the 41-year-old has amassed Group 1 victories across elite racing jurisdictions, including Hong Kong, Great Britain, Ireland, Japan, France, Australia, Dubai, Germany, and the United States.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the partnership, Moore emphasized the significance of World Pool’s impact on the racing industry. “World Pool has been such an important addition to the entire racing industry over the past few years, and I’m delighted to be an ambassador for the brand. The Hong Kong Jockey Club should be congratulated for all the effort and investment they’ve put into it. I’ve always said that Hong Kong is the blueprint for the way horse racing should be run, and World Pool is helping to amplify the very best racing on a global stage. It’s great that racing fans from around the world get the chance to bet into these large pools.”
Moore’s appointment comes at a crucial time, with a series of high-profile World Pool race days on the horizon. Among them are Futurity Stakes Day at Caulfield, the Saudi Cup—the world’s richest race—and Hong Kong’s Group 1 double-header, featuring the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup and the Citi Hong Kong Gold Cup. These events will be followed by an exciting lineup in March, including the New Zealand Derby, Canterbury Stakes, Newmarket Handicap, Tancred Stakes, Australian Cup, and South Africa Derby.
Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, Chief Executive Officer of The Hong Kong Jockey Club, hailed Moore as the ideal figure to represent World Pool. “Ryan Moore has been at the pinnacle of our sport for many years, and it is fitting that a world-class jockey of such international renown and respect is an ambassador for World Pool. Not only is Ryan a world-class jockey, but he is also a highly intelligent individual who is passionate about racing and its future. He recognizes the benefits that World Pool provides to racing all over the world, and we couldn’t think of a better person to represent the brand.”
World Pool has steadily expanded, with more fixtures, races, and split cards planned for 2025. Notably, all 12 Hong Kong Group 1 races will be included in the World Pool calendar, while New Zealand will host World Pool races for the first time. The initiative is not only designed to enhance liquidity and reduce fluctuations but also to generate added income streams for racecourses, jurisdictions, and rights holders.
Moore, who has enjoyed significant success in Hong Kong—including victory in the 2018 BMW Hong Kong Derby—has long been a revered figure in international racing. His association with World Pool further underscores his commitment to the sport’s global development. “It’s important that the racing world starts to work together, and to have everyone pulling in the same direction,” Moore noted. “If we’re speaking with one voice and trying to achieve the same goals, it will really help the whole sport to prosper. World Pool plays a big part in that, and I look forward to being part of that journey.”
