Sha Tin Racecourse buzzed with excitement on Sunday, 11 January 2026, as The Racing Club unveiled a new initiative designed to bring its Members closer to the heart of horse racing. The Racing Club Syndicate promises to give enthusiasts a hands-on taste of racehorse ownership, combining camaraderie, prestige, and the thrill of the sport.

The official announcement came during The Racing Club Cup Day, one of the Club’s most anticipated annual events. Mr Jackson Woo Ka Biu, Steward of The Hong Kong Jockey Club and Chairman of The Racing Club’s Board, outlined the vision: Members will now have the opportunity to jointly own select high-quality racehorses alongside the Club, which will act as Syndicate Manager and Treasurer.

“This initiative opens the door for our Members to step into the exhilarating world of racehorse ownership, while enjoying the prestige and experiences that come with being part of The Racing Club,” said Mr Andrew Harding, Executive Director, Racing, The Hong Kong Jockey Club.

Under the Syndicate structure, Members purchase shares reflecting their ownership stake, covering horse acquisition, importation, and monthly stabling costs. In return, they gain exclusive privileges and a proportional share of prize earnings. The first Racing Club Syndicate will consist of 35 shares, with Members eligible to purchase one share per account. The Club plans to acquire one horse in the 25/26 racing season, with potential for more syndicates as demand grows.

The day was further highlighted by competitive racing action, including the Hung Mui Kuk Handicap (Race 7, 1200m), where Young Emperor, one of five horses already owned by The Racing Club, claimed victory. Other runners included Young Bravo, Young Champion, Young Fighter, and Young Horizon, all showcasing the quality of the Club’s stables.

In addition to the Syndicate launch, The Racing Club announced a partnership with the prestigious Royal Ascot Racing Club. Reciprocal membership access will allow participants to enjoy exclusive clubrooms, tours of major racing events such as HKIR and Royal Ascot, and collaborative initiatives throughout the year.

Since its inception in 2007, The Racing Club has positioned horse racing as a premier lifestyle experience, blending racing passion with elite social and culinary events across Sha Tin and Happy Valley racecourses. The introduction of the Syndicate marks the next chapter in offering Members an immersive, rewarding connection to the sport.
