The British Horseracing Authority (BHA) has confirmed that the Listed Queen Charlotte Fillies’ Stakes will be staged at Chester Racecourse on Saturday, June 27, following the cancellation of its originally scheduled fixture at Chelmsford City.
The seven-furlong contest had been due to take place on Sunday, July 5, at Chelmsford City. However, after it was announced last week that the meeting would no longer proceed, officials were required to find an alternative venue to ensure the race remained on the calendar.

Chester has now stepped in to host the established Listed contest alongside its existing race programme later this month, ensuring continuity for one of the notable races in the midsummer schedule for fillies.
The British Horseracing Authority thanked Chester Racecourse for accommodating the event at relatively short notice. The governing body also acknowledged the support of the Horserace Betting Levy Board (HBLB), whose contribution has helped maintain the total prize fund at £60,000 despite the change of venue.
The move means the Queen Charlotte Fillies’ Stakes will retain its Listed status and prize-money structure, offering connections a valuable opportunity for black-type success during the summer season.
Chester’s unique configuration and competitive atmosphere are expected to provide a different challenge from the race’s original setting, adding an extra layer of intrigue when the field assembles on June 27.
While the relocation represents a logistical adjustment for trainers and owners, the successful rescheduling of the Queen Charlotte Fillies’ Stakes ensures the race remains a prominent fixture within the British racing programme. Maintaining the contest at its established level is viewed as an important outcome for participants targeting valuable opportunities for fillies during the campaign.
The Queen Charlotte Fillies’ Stakes has become a recognised feature of the domestic racing calendar, and its transfer to Chester safeguards both its prestige and its place in the summer schedule.
