The Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC) will present an eight-race International Race Day on Saturday, 27 December 2025. The meeting’s principal attraction will be the RAS MLAIJI CUP, a Local Purebred Arabian Handicap (65–85) carrying prize money of Qr 100,000.
The feature contest will be run as Race 8 at 19:35 over 2000 meters, where leading local Purebred Arabians are set to compete in a demanding middle-distance test. With the highest purse on the card, the RAS MLAIJI CUP is expected to draw strong interest and provide a fitting climax to the evening’s racing.
The programme will begin at 15:30 with Race 1, the Purebred Arabian Handicap 45–65 (Class 6) over 2000 meters, offering Qr 45,000 in prize money. This opening event is set to provide an early opportunity for established handicappers to make an impression.
At 16:05, Race 2, the Local Thoroughbred Handicap 0–45 (Class 6), will be contested over 1200 meters for a purse of Qr 45,000, before attention turns to Race 3 at 16:40, the Thoroughbred Maiden Plate (Class 6). Run over 2000 meters, this contest will give emerging talent a platform to secure a first career victory.
The middle portion of the card will feature Race 4 at 17:15, the Local Purebred Arabian Handicap 55–75 (Class 5) over 1200 meters, with Qr 50,000 on offer. This will be followed at 17:50 by Race 5, the Purebred Arabian Novice Plate (4yo Only, Class 5), a 2000-meter contest carrying Qr 55,000 in total prize money.
Evening racing will continue with Race 6 at 18:25, the Thoroughbred Handicap 0–85 (3yo Only, Class 4) over 2000 meters, also worth Qr 55,000, before Race 7 takes place at 19:00. That event, the Thoroughbred Handicap 75–95 (Class 3), will be run over 1200 meters with a purse of Qr 65,000.
The card will conclude with the RAS MLAIJI CUP, where the strongest local Arabian performers are expected to vie for top honours and the evening’s richest reward. With a balanced mix of Arabian and thoroughbred races across multiple classes and distances, the QREC meeting is set to deliver a competitive and well-structured International Race Day for participants and racing followers alike.
The Qatar race cards 27 December outline a well-balanced eight-race programme featuring Arabian and Thoroughbred contests across multiple classes at QREC.
